I'm stuck at work, did this with a mouse in photoshop - . I'll add work in progress to this same posting through the day I plan to do this as a still life, bottle sitting on a table, couple of fruits around, poor guy stuck inside

[edit] removed the images to clean up the thread, see final image on second posting

Don't know how long this took because I left it half way through and came back to it later. Photoshop with tablet.

    Trapped in Snowglobe

Here's the cheat. After I painted the eye, I used photoshop to warp it into the snowglobe shape. Then I painted the snowglobe reflections on top.

I did use reference, but these were painted on blank canvas, no paintover.

Probably because characters are easier to focus on?

I was trying for a slightly different perspective here... not sure how well I did. Made a quick sketch and ... mostly followed it...

Trying to figure out painter, this is my second time using it. I got bored so I didn't fix any of the numerous problems with this or finish it.

    my humble feedback

hermchen: the painting came out alright, I would've liked to see a bigger bug, I barely noticed it at first

Mr north: a couple of lines on the edge of the bottle would give it some depth

Machzero: I get the same feeling sometimes, I'd rather post an unfinished drawing that nothing at all, I need my DSG fix

tabasco, nice caricature..a darker shadow would finish it off

JWSamsara, I'd like to see that one shaded if you get around to it

fes: nice painting, hope you don't mind I copied your candle for my painting

Vaughanyboy: color me impressed, this is the best I've seen you do..

Hamsta: that's a cute drawing.. how about some color on the bottle to separate it from the background?

    Panagos: interesting concept...

Oomgawa: pretty cool, I think It needs and edge around the globe to reflect the glass width

Phoenyx: I can't make it up, what are those lines? is it a window?

Hunger_Artist: cool sketch, very dynamic. What's on the jar? I can' make sense of it

CharcoalArtist: you need to calibrate your monitor and your scanner....

Aberrant: I like your solid anatomy.. I was wondering when someone was going to do an alcoholism related DSG

Vantrum: that's what my commute used to look like...

danimation: nice concept.. how about an edge around the bottle? remember a bottle is made of a glass wall

charcoalArtist: Thanks for the great crits of everyone's work. You are right on target with the thickness of the glass. I thought about that when I was painting it, the problem was the snowglobe I was looking at was very thin glass, just didn't have any thickness to the walls, like a bottle would. Should have compensated for that though! Thanks again. . .

William b. Hand: Edgar Allen Poe would have loved that one. . .has that buried alive feeling to it. Well done.

Aberrant: Don't stop now. That piece has a good feeling to it, a bit different from your previous work. I'd say push the levels of contrast a bit more, sharper highlights, etc.

    Nice work everyone.
