white is the new black. opaque is the new clear.

This was made for an advertising project at school. Done pretty quick. I tried to adjust the colors to look like a pretentious fashion photoshoot.

my idea was to sell opaque sunglasses. so, have a photoshoot where none of the models can see, yet are still acting hot and sophisticated.

Haha, I like his expression. Wierd how a person doing something stupid is funnier the more serious they are about it.

small comment on the cast shadows

nice style. Like it a lot.

only thing is: I feel the style you went with doesn't call for super blured shadow outlines. Maybe less blur on these guys or, did you ever consider doing the hard-edge anime type of shadows ?

    just a though...

haha that's pretty funny dude. Great drawing too, you captured the calvin klein esque add where everyone is standing around looking in an arbitrary direction.

Now that I think about it all fashion models kind of look blind in those shoots. Nice work.

Wow...i love your style, your works on your site are also very cool!

Though i know that the drop shadow of the girl on the wall is coming from diffuse light it looks too soft...

Also the guys shadow is very blurred, though the shadow on the wall has hard edges, but it's hit by the same light source (anyone understand?)...

Is this the title of the magazine on the magazine? It's strange, since this should be the back side...

You captured the stylish high glossy feeling of the fashion shots very well...it works!

Waiting to see more from you...

Great piece again, and a real odd humor. I like ita lot!
But there was a thing that was bugging me - The perspective is quite off. I assume that the architecture plays an important role and therefore I would definitely doublecheck it.
I hope you don't consider it improper but I wanted to check it and figured that your vanishing point isn't defined clear enough. Please don't be upset I drew over your painting - I just wanted to show you what I mean...
    cheers...

I was just thinking - maybe you wanted to show that the 'engineer'of that perspective had opaque sunglasses too and the wrong perspective is on purpose? MAn I just hope I don't make a fool of me right now...

    Nice work Matt!!!

Screw the perspective nagging, first perspective can have more than one vanishing point, second I don't see anything that is so wrong about the perspective that it should be pointed out by a crappy green-line paintover...

Anyway, I think the blind models are a very funny and a cool thing but I think a company may not be so tempted to get an advertisement where their merchandise is not positively promoted Great lighting and the character positioning in the room is well done. Those guys at school must be lucky!

This is quite incredible.... you've always been one of my very favorite artists on the site. And from the same city, too! lol

But seriously this is a great piece. I LOVE the magazine ad feel, you captured it amazingly. Keep up the good work.

well, I have to say like the others I like this very much... And though the perspective problems dont bother me much it was nice to see that Lewiston took the time to try and help you out whether or not you were thinking of revising it. I mean thats what we're here for right? Not just praises but, comments to help us grow.. (this comment was directed towards Gilles not you Isric) Great work once again... hope to see more from you.

my fav has gotta be the chick staring at the wall. i definitely laughed out loud when i first saw this. great job

gotta say though the clouds in the upper left are kinda throwing me off, attracting a lot of attention. i get what you're going for with the big open vogue pretentious sophistication, and it works. but that bright blue pulls a lot of focus, esp since the grain of the floor runs in that direction.

maybe put a skylight/domed glass roof, something like that to help breakup that big opening?

    Freedom is the new Slavery!
    Ignorance is the new Strength!

    ...sorry, couldn't resist

Very nice composition, especially with the arrows on the magazine.
