Very nice red. Like the whole sexuality theme you got going with everything very cools.

One thing, try to use more form shadows instead of sharp shadows in some of your drawings. like that statue study. let some of the shadows slowly transcend with a midpoint into the light. Have it curve over the form, and in the neck area also. Will give your work a nice clean smooth feeling to it.

Ha I love the first girl. Like how you used the color of the paper to accenuate her clothing. very very nice.

Hey Daunting - excellent comments....I completely see what you're talking about with the statue reference as a baseline. I'll be taking that into sincere consideration and hope you'll let me know if I am on the right track.
Sexuality thing - I must seem repressed or something, eh?

    COW8 - wip

Hey - figured I'd post my COW #8 - evil easter creature from a dark planet. It's a wip, but it's fun to post shit anyway. I'm learning Painter 9, thanks to Dougbot giving a brief TUT in how he operates in this app. Comments are welcomed!
    Here's my copy so far:
Jellybelly: This large, egg-producing creature descends from the stratus of the Sky Seas to the dark, land-based depths below. This annual descent is solely to spread its seed. Jelly-like eggs are jettisoned from the cannons atop its mantle. Once airborn, the photoluminescent eggs are sun-kissed and descend into the dark depths below. Landing unharmed, the glowing eggs, hidden all over, create great fun for the local inhabitants to locate and consume. The locals being low level light creatures, are inexplicably drawn to the glowing eggs and suck them up. The eggs take root in a host if consumed within a period of an 1 hour from leaving the mother. Whilst in a host, within 7 hours, the host dies and a newly formed jelly belly rises to the heavens to join the masses in the Sky Seas and then the cycle repeats. The local inhabitants have no clue that they are hosts to this glowing parasite. They call it Pheaster (the 'ph' is silent) and have a great time.

    Sheez!

This is looking great. I love the second pic loads It's so great, I had to look at it about 4 times before I could get it into my head that it was a drawing.

The C.O.W. looks good, but I find it boring to look at, maybe some more details or colors?

cmon' post more I need it.

I promise you that there will be more color in the latest project I posted. This is still the 'roughing in color' stage to flesh out the beasty. I'll be posting more tomorrow.

I'm telling you man, play to your strengths do a COW in a medical illustration format. I'm not sure how to represent a figure as being underwater by color distortions/blurs etc. but I'm sure with a bit of reference of underwater creatures and light diffusion (sp) etc. this piece could be ALLOT stronger. See you on Saturday Dave

COW 9 wip - Cute but Deadly

Okay, so I'm showin' my creature, but I'm still workin' on the concept copy to go with it. In a nutshell, this little critter is called a Gas Mite.
Roughly 2 feet wide by 1 foot tall with a fuzzy dome showing 'puppy dog eye' spots with associated tear ducts to really carry 'cute' as far as possible. The snout is rather a spout for the silent but deadly gas to be released when a prey gets near enough to want to pet it.
Once the prey gets near enough to want to help this sad, defenseless and pathetic mound of fur, the Gas Mite arches upward to receive the love, and expels its olfactory assualt from the three snouts/spouts. The victim gets one wiff, becomes paralyzed and falls to the ground. The Gas Mite slowly moves onto the prey, much like a sea star would, and begins to slowly devour its victim alive.
The copy is choppy, but the idea is there. Will be painting it up in Painter.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAVE! You've got my vote this week sir, that is frigging awesome! My wife agrees. K, asspatting done, crit time. The right eye (viewers left) looks too flat. Try to bring out the fact that it has 3 dimentions by dropping a slightly spherical highlight. The eyes kind of remind me of a cross between an owl and a stuffed animal at the moment, if that was your intention, good job. As I am a big fan of contrast this subject allows you to really push it pretty far with opposites. For that I'd recommend grossing it up a bit more in the underbelly /mouth area by making the teeth more like teeth, add a bit of gore/ saliva, and darken it up to seperate the cute light upper from the mean underbelly of the beast. It may also look more realistic if you bumped up the pink fleshy feel to the colors inside the mouth as well. Overall I love the concept, it rocks, the execution is great there are just a few little nit picks that I had that can further accentuate it's bad assedness Once again, nice job bro, you rock.

    Hey thanks Mike!
I'm going to apply all of your suggestions! Just an FYI - those eyes aren't eyes, but rather surface markings to attract prey (much like insects have eye markings to look menacing or alert), but I'm planning on blending them in better - still workin' on it.
    Cheers!
