nice portraits (nice, as in just effin' great!), yet i keep thinking that they should have a third eye or tentacles or some other icky protuberence, ha, ha. enjoy your time off.

i demand update! I'd like to see more full figure drawings... it's so hard to balance a full figure drawing... cropping it is a little bit of an easy way out. It seems to me that you have been cropping a lot recently (or using cropped references.. but you should know the figure well enough to be able to paint even what you don't see realistically! I want to see more deviation from your references... use strict color schemes and get your values right, make it a more creative process! keep it up!

Wow man, this latest update must be one of your nicest ones! The first thing I saw was the cool monster-thing, the last one, pure awesomeness man! The sketches you have mixed with red is nice too, love your pencilstrokes. That... krabb-thing especially got me hooked so to speak, hahaha!!! (I know I'm funny!) And all your girls have such nice asses! That dragon-sketch... wow man.... I would love to see a finished big drawing in this kindoff sketch style. And all you robot things... you rock!

dude i just don't have words. between this and some of the textures on the dreamlords stuff, you're really pushing the boundaries out.

just cause i like making your pictures look like maya logos, here's a suggestion (if it's not too cheesy hehe)

My favorites are you pen sketches of monsters and figures though. Sometimes the best stuff comes from a simple bic pen

Heheh. You probably will get very confused with all these helpful comments. All kinds advices are coming and they often have an opposite meaning. You might count votes for decision which advice to apply. . Here is mine to increase general confusion.
But first of all. Hi, dear Hurry, great to have you back! Congratulations on recognition by the people in the site (I mean an exclusive sketch book), you deserved it. And congratulation on very interesting entry for LMS2.

I want to comment on it, and kind of inconvenient you didn't transfer it here. I need to look at it. So off I go to FF section to take a look again. BRB...

OK, I'm sorry, but I need to look at it when I write, so I took it with me, I will remove the image if you don't want it here, OK?

OK, I see, new thing, image doesn't show up in preview. Oh well.

The painting is great because it is highly engaging, very active in attempt to talk to viewers. And I don't know your own interpretation, but here is mine.

I think this piece is about destroying true faith, making old beliefs frauds. I think this priest selling his soul and fate of his followers for something. Color suggests gold for me, but it might be safety, or power. I think we are witnesses of a treachery.
He is supposed to be a spiritual leader of his people, but he is just a fraud. He selling his conscience, making an alliance against his own people and his old faith.
It is a beginning of the end of morality and grace, I don't expect that this new power will rule by fairness and conscience.

I like that you made several hints in the painting (as I see it). First of all the hands of two priests connected in praying? blessing gesture. They look very spiritual, very graceful, but I see it just as old things transferred to new religion from old one with goal to control. Fingers are so thin andd long. Really beautiful gesture, shouldn't be left behind, very useful.
They are playing together in the middle of chaos, blessing this death and ugliness.

The priest, the one with short figure is interesting. He is calm, he is not afraid anymore. Looks like it's a done deal and he has all confidence with him it will not be any cheating. So I think he sold something really valuable to these invaders, something really beautiful if he is so sure they are not gonna deceive him. Very clever of him to be on the side of power.
And judging from history (especially the one I just absorbed in Russia and England) it is a very common thing.
From technical point of view it is a great piece too. Gesture of the hands and how you placed them one is below another is beautiful.
I have an association, remember the connecting hands (fingers to be exact) of the Adam and God in the famous painting "The Creation of Adam" by Michelangelo. In this painting God created man after himself and the act of connecting hands actually is process of giving soul to Adam (well I prefer to think like this).
And in your painting the priest is almost like a reflection of his new master and but the meaning is an opposite, It is fallen from grace.

A lot of gold doesn't look too much too me. I interpret it as a major attraction of this treachery. Chair and details are wonderful. There is no doubt for me invaders have something to offer.

So thank you fro this entry, I enjoyed it a lot. I don't see any flaws and don't want any changes. The expressions of faces, proportions, poses, story, color, cloth. Everything works together and it is obvious that you put a lot of thoughts thinking about composition and each character. Great piece. I love this feeling of solemn and awkward silence in this painting. And we being of witnesses of highly amoral act happening in front of our eyes. It is rarely so open for viewers to see. .

About you portrait gallery. I like Indian woman although I wonder if her elbow should be a little bit longer, looks short to me.
Other faces have many distortions and one is most frequent to see is the distance between nose and upper lips. it is too long very often, I think. For example I think it is the case in all these portraits plus there are no foreshortening of the faces when you paint them in perspective, or it is not truthful.
    http://www.bjornhurri.com/sb/06/June/oc11.jpg
    http://www.bjornhurri.com/sb/06/June/sadness.jpg
    http://www.bjornhurri.com/sb/06/June/speed_study9.jpg

The other thing you painting one type of nose for all your models, even Indian woman nose painted int he same manner, and it is not varied in structure and should have more planes I think. A bit monotone, I think.

I like dirty_c addition to the portrait of the girl, she looks prettier and got soul. Her nose makes me look harder at the portrait, the angle is strange, her turn of the head is not that fast, it should be more straight in front of the eyes angle, not 3/4 of the head.

In your sketches I like the last ones more of all. those tangled bodies, this one
    http://www.bjornhurri.com/sb/06/Augu...stpaper_10.jpg very beautiful design
http://www.bjornhurri.com/sb/06/Augu...stpaper_07.jpg I like the funny scene of very homey gathering of these Satan creations, I love when you do this, make them look sympathetic.
the same goes to this little one
http://www.bjornhurri.com/sb/06/Augu...stpaper_04.jpg very sweet little guy on the bottom of the page. I'm sure he has a job serving sinners in hell, but he has cute figure and face .
Imagination is wonderful, but lines are still subconscious and you don't control them, in my opinion. This reflects you being undecided which way to lead the line. it sure looks sincere, but lacking something, fluent probably which is a knowledge of what you want, I think.
See you, Hurri. Maybe you will treat us with new photos from your vacation. Would be awesome to see your face again . and Sweden too.
    With love and respect,
    Sveta

well man, it turns out the net isnt free at the hostel so my time is limited but this stuff is looking exceptional, you are really squeezing out each flaw one by one. Much of the stiffness in your faces (remember when i spoke to you about eyes?) has disappeared completely and your work is looking very dynamic and unforced.

its going to be so awesome to meet again in brussels and we can have a long chat about our art then, when it doesnt cost me 1 euro a minute hehe!

take care man, your stuff is looking primo in my eyes
