It would be nice to see painted (colorful) eggs on the pic...and a nice story what and why the main race on the dark planet thinks that this creature has something to do with easter at all (if there's any, hehe)...
I figured out where to look now, and I shall be able to find future entries. But that you for the special singling out.... now excuse me while I go put on my padded helmet, board the short bus and drool my way to my "special" school.
omgwtfhi2u! cool topic. i'm on the case!
Completely cool topic - I see much to come of this one!
I'm at a loss of good ideas... I was going to do a humpty dumpty revenge type thing but I figured that'd be too humanoid.
dark, lonely, perhaps distressed world under artificial forms of light... without the benefit of their home star to guide them......
What kind of skin tones the animals of this world would have without a primal light source?...
Would creatures that produce bioluminescent light in a world of dank dark be more revered? and those that didn't...be more reviled or looked upon as evil?
Then if that is so,
What sort of creatures would be feared or deemed a curse?
What sort of creatures would represent the complete opposite of the population's Easter?..(which on this planet is usually associated as a time of fertility and rebirth)
Let your mind formulate questions...and then try to answer them...as wildly or as tamely as you want...
hope that helps dude if but a little.....
And if I have this all wrong Fozzybar......please don't hesitate to correct me...
Dude, thank you so much! I guess I just never really thought that in depth with it.
It's all good xpose.
I just hope I understood the topic right and didn't screw anything up.... However, the way it reads to me..it could have a double meaning and should prove interesting in this week's posts.
Whether the population worships it as a rebirth/fertility god or the complete opposite...is a bit tricky in the wording and then how fozzy suggests it up above. And again..if I did misinterpret..please correct me...
Well, actually i thought "dark" in a sense of evil/bad...but then again it's how you interprete it, it's fine with me when you think of "no-light"...
btw i wanted to mention that Ptree3 got the idea with doing topics for special days or events...thanx!
helzon, that was some great insight... thanks!
Okay, my mind track is pushing me off on a tangent and perhaps I need to be swayed back. Isn't it possible that this creature from a dark planet, is on another planet now? I'm roughin' up my story and some lines of thought have this creature elsewhere. Lemme know....
c'mon guys, it's up to you how you interprete the title.
don't ask uncle fozzy about everything
have fun and good luck everyone and thanks for the inspiration, helzon!
Uncle Fozzy is here to answer all your question, Hanuka thx for the backup!
redehlert...the creature must not be on the dark planet, just make the concept tight, so we can see that it's an "Evil Easter Creature From Dark Planet", that's all
No prob! ...I was just thinking out loud and typing at the same time.
Fozzy: So just to be crystal clear; what your saying is that the setting isn't as important as the design of the creature itself? right?redehlert...the creature must not be on the dark planet, just make the concept tight, so we can see that it's an "Evil Easter Creature From Dark Planet", that's all
Thanks for your time and dedication.
Wurd....I'm down widdat, FozzyB.
Just didn't want any disqualifications, ya know?
You DO NOT NEED a background or setting for any of the C.O.W. rounds...it's all about the creature design and concept...even this time there is no need, the origin of a dark planet is only to underline the evil character of the creature...Originally Posted by Helzon
On a side note: We had 7 C.O.W. winner-pieces yet and there was NO real background on any of them, just a little ground or structure, that's all...so don't work your ass off on the background, concentrate on the creature and concept (something i have to keep in mind for myself )!!!
First post, glad to find this board it's great. I broke my old wacom and apparently theres a production shortage with the intuos 3 right now, lucky me. Anyway, heres an evil easter creature.
It sits in the dark using it's ears to sense prey, it doesn't see so good.
Aberrant: that's a great sketch and it shows off some nice anatomy. i'd suggest you put some shading and/or colors on it, though. so far, it's a sketch and we want finished illustrations here. if your wacom's broken, nevermind to use traditional media
and don't forget a real description have a look at the winner gallery and older threads to see how this basically works.
have fun and welcome to ca.org
This is where Matt Dixon comes in and color his piece to make it more badass.....
Ok then, how's this for an intro:
Duh, hallo.. I dont read rules good and I draw pitchers. Heres a alien bunny. I rule!
Sorry, I'll finish it in pencil. I'm not really set up for anything else right now.

sorry I have been missing in action. The new computer set up is going well (except it took me a day to figure out that my new optical mouse was bad and kept dying on me... I thought the computer was locking up or something.) I am still working on my Lava Creature and my Upside/Downside Critiques for that thread, (WAY BEHIND aren't I?) and still waiting on a few components of my new machine so I will probably be missing this Easter Themes C.O.W. all together.... but I plan on critiquing this too, so post some kick ass work like you always do guys.
Cool, this is going to be my first C.O.W. entry. This is a great way to get my skills in creature design ahead, since I really have no skills in that. I can't wait to see everyone's entry.
Quickie...Blah! I thought I was painting cute playboy bunny girl, but when I woke up this morning she mutated into some Happy Easter Creature.
The level 12 Hammerstein RoopRoop, better known as the ‘Fargle’, can be found on the darkest of all dark easter planets called Three.
When it’s energy bar reaches a minimal level it begins chanting ‘Ess-Ess-Ess’ which helps it conjure a glowing easter egg for no apparent reason.
The glowing egg then floats there between it’s hands for a while. It floats and floats, never wanting to stop floating, because it’s glowing and thus magically imbued and partially evil.
I once ran into a Fargle during a dream where I fell into a portal after flying a harrier at a giant glowing ring. I spent many a days enchanted by the pointless glowing egg until I realized life is better with no pants on. I then woke up and thanked all the Fargles across the black dark cold, unforgiving, unrelenting space death.

Holy shit man! That's fantastic!
I love you Xia....
The deadly and terrifying Chictobat is known on his home planet of Murdstar as the "Easterbastard". Legend has it that hundreds of years ago some Murdstar miners accidentally stumbled upon him while digging for materials to be used for fuel. The Chictobat was so furious from being disturbed from his slumber that he instantly killed the miners and everyone in sight and ate them. He took their skulls and painted them with multiple bright colors and put them on stakes in the front of his cave as a warning for others who might disturb him. Now the tradition is on every easter (the day of the miner incident) the villages collect corpses of various Murdstar creatures and paint the skulls with bright colors to pay tribute to the Chictobat.
(well it IS a dark planet)
