amazing mister top tip I forgot all about that, the flock ideas is super good and I can see it working, the only one that seems abit forced is the attack. Maybe it should look more painful for the character maybe? small point I know.
take it easy but never slow keep at it 100 miles and hour baby.

Ouch, although... I cant blame you being sidetracked by the l4d demo... i've put in a fair few hours! Speaking of which, whats your name on steam not long now till we get the full game in all its goodness. - add karkossa @ hotmail dot com if you need a trusty survivor companion!

Shame you didnt get around to finishing your entry, was coming along real nice. Love all your pictures still, your linearts as badass as ever - it has this weird blade runner meets akira japanese feel to it for ultimate hotness.

Youre definately right that I need to do more things from my head, i really need to get a portfolio going so I can get a damn job! being a bum sucks ass, although its fucking handy when games like L4D come out. Yay for 5am Bed times!

    Cheers folks!

katinki: Thanks! Yeah, it'd be great to get a toy made someday. I might redo him a bit and make an evil knight as well...

Redfrog: Thanks a bunch! I checked out your thread in the Toys section - very impressive stuff. I am most jealous, sir - I'd love to get into that area of work.

Clochette: Thanks very much - glad you like!

cakeypigdog: Cheers, fella! I think you're right, I'm going to redo that knight soon.

D@niel: That's a really great thing to say! Cheers!

Sketch: Thanks for stopping by, Sketch. Your sketchbook is looking tops - I love your linework!

Hive_minD: If you copy your image, paste it, gaussian blur a bit and then turn that into a multiply or darken layer then you should get the same effect. Thanks dude!

    D-BAKER: Cheers, Dan! L4D tmrw?

Twitchfinger: Heh, thanks a lot! I just discovered your SB - fantastic work in there.

DanielC: No, YOU'RE the monster. Thanks for stopping by and keep killing it.

TheGnoll: Tasty nomnoms... Thanks for your constant support, fella.

    algenpfleger: Cheers!

Ashab: Yeah, the attack pic is a little too straightforward maybe. I imagine that they'd would swarm out in a more organic way. I also liked the idea that they would be pecking at his head when he wasn't in 'attack mode'.

Alexandr Pascenko: Cheers, man. Your pencils are getting stupendously good - kudos!

Harry Palmer: Well, well, well... Mr. Roberts. I hope the freelance life is treating you well. Teatime isn't the same without you, old fruit. I think you should start a sketchbook on here so I can keep up to date with all your doodling - you know it makes sense. Also, please don't use any of the vocabulary of Jakeopia - it'll be in common usage in next to no time and that would make me 'beef at the moon'. Keep in touch! Cheers!

Jackwhat: Stupid Left 4 Dead... Unfortunately I'm a scummy Xboxer so won't be able to battle the hordes alongside your good self. As for the portfolio, decide what type of things you want to concentrate on and get cracking! You're certainly in the right place to get feedback and push on. Cheers!

Mitchell: Thanks a lot, mate. It's much appreciated.

    Ok, here's some more stuff.

Finally got round to doing the goddamn ostrich bike. There's supposed to be a rider with a nifty helmet, but we'll see if I get to that too:

A couple of very quick studies from Mongol. It's a decent (if heavily romanticised) biopic that looks fantastic and has some great fight scenes. It supposed to be the first part of a trilogy so I look forward to seeing the next two:

    Doodlezzzz:

    More soon,

    Ta, Nick.

I don't get it. Whatever you do - you nail it down. there is not one single bloody piece of work that seems to have a flaw... Really admiring your work. Very inspirational and so wide spread. Where are you working at? Or are you selfemployed?
    Cheers from Vienna..

uuuuuuuuuh^^ I love the chicken walker thingy, that is quite good and some of the sketches are getting better, but your poses need work, even though the dynamic ones are quite evocative, they do not look believable. That should be something you can work on. Study life, and keep up this good stuff

Love the Ostrich Walker, just out of curiosity - did you know a lot about mechanics before you did it? I would like to create crazy vehicles, but I get too wrapped up thinking about whether the components I'd draw would actually allow it to move.

    Really envy your work.

Hey, I left my first post ever in this thread. It's been a while since then. I forgot how much your digitals kick ass. Those film scenes from Blade Runner and The New Word are absolutely stunning. Phenomenal coloring skills, man. I need to learn how to do that.

Apologies for the long hiatus from the sketchbook section - I've been very busy doing this n' that.

    sinneart: Glad you like it!

lewiston: That means a great deal coming from an artist of your calibre! Many thanks. I'm currently self-employed, but hoping to move to the US in the autumn. Prior to that I was at Free Radical Design (now Crytek UK).

ccsears: Yeah, I enjoyed doing the Flock stuff. Cheers for the 五星!

D_BAKER: Cheers, Danny baby! Hope you are well, my old fruit!

Mischeviouslittleelf: Cheers. That page of poses is really ugly, I agree. Will get on it.

Royzy: I've not really studied mechanical stuff, I just love machines. The best way to approach it I find is to work from big to small. So, get the silhouette looking good and then 'justify' the functionality through details. The workings of the ID stuff I've done generally come about organically as I go along.

    lennon: Thanks.

    Hive_minD: Cheers, dude!

cakeypigdog: I'm going CRAZY! Naw, it's ok for the moment.

    Josef K.: I'll try!

Christoffer: I'm only good at judging and replicating colour, I can't generate colours for my own stuff at all (yet). Cheers!

    Marth: Thanks for stopping by.

Right, have had very little time for my doodles lately, but here's some bits and pieces:

Designed a couple of characters around some cool kanji caligraphy I found on the net:

    Some little enviro thumbs:

    V. quick studies from shorpy.com:

    doodles:

    Cheers, Nick.

these are amazing man, and out of curiosity - what do you define as a 'quick' study? (in regards to those env pieces) 3-4 hours?
