Gloominati´s sketches :!! OFFICIALLY CLOSED!!
So that´s the thread in wich I want to post all of my drawings and paintings I make now and in the future. This thread is meant to be some kind of documentation of my drawing skills and improvements. Well perhaps it sounds absurd, or not realy realistic but I want to try, to show you my personal "artjourney", from now till the time I reach my aim, wich is becoming a concept artist (Yes, and think what you want but I swear that it actually IS realistic). Yeah perhaps It´s kind of crazy to do something like this because this thread is going to be still active in maybe 15 years. I just want to share my artprocess of my entire life with you, to improve quickly and learn the most i can.
To introduce myself:
My name is Christof, I´m 16 years old and I live in germany. I am very ambitious to reach my aim. I really want to learn the most I can and I ask you guys to help me doing so. I hope that some of you are interested to give comments and critiques, ´cause I think this project will be really great!!
Yeah, nothing more to say about it. I hope that some of you like to participate in my huge journey, and hopefully some of you would like to help me to become the best artist i can ever become
Hope you enjoy it

Looks good, the lighting and colour scheme make it nice and clear. Seeing as you're doing an anatomy study, though, I think the pecs should loop round over the biceps. And that middle muscle group is a bit anonymous: is it part of the deltoid or the pectorals? Nice style, though, makes me think of medical illustration, what with the anatomy and all.

a very very rough sketch, for an image i want to paint in painter in the next time
A speedpaint, i did a few days ago, took ma about 30 minutes
My firs anatomy studies ever, I started to study anatomy two week ago
April 2nd, 2005 #6
I made all this stuff last two weeks.
Some more anatomy studies:
When I draw anatomy studies, I always try to copy from reference and then to draw the whole thing ones more from memory.
My first life painting ever:
In the two following images I drew from reference. I tried to get the shape in a very short time. One took me about 1 minute.
Here are some doodles I did while listening to the radio
AS ALWAYS: C&C ARE REALLY REALLY WECOME

Versuchs einfach mal... Mal gucken was passiert. Mach weiter! Viel erfolg und so...

okay kuhl, nen Versuch ists echt wert, "learning by doing" heißt es doch, also werd ichs mal so probieren, wie du sagst, dann kann ich auch mal was "richiges" auf die Beine stellen, nicht nur anatomiestudien.

Haven´t postet here forever and I am sorry that I can only post one page of shitty doodles. The reason for that is that I am working veery big at the moment and since I don´t have a digicam I am not able to get all this stuff into my PC.
Well as I said here is one page of doodles, was kinda fun to do 'em.

I disagree with Krakel, anatomy-studies have 3 benefits in my eyes:
1) Like every other study, it trains your eye. Sure you can always draw something else everytime but the human body is one of the few forms we have understanding for since our birth. We simply recognise faster what's wrong with our drawings because we have preset areas in our brain which tell us that they are wrong. So when we are able to draw anatomy very well, we trained our eye and our understanding that well that we will have fewer problems drawing other things, even things we draw the first time. The best example for this is the face. The more facestudies you do, the more you get your eye trained. Flaws are just much more visible then.
2) Anatomy is fun :
3) Everybody likes boobs.
You're doing great, can't wait to see more updates from you!

Shit man, the anatomy stuff is coming along nicely, so keep at it everyday.
Maybe you could try to apply your knowledge by taking a magazine a copying a figure and then place your pelvis, trochanter, fermur and knee inside.
Keep the hard work man.
It's good to see your motivated.

Mr.Blonde - Thanks mate, great to hear that some improvement is goin on here!!
Onir - Thanks for the nice words, man!
Diego - Thanks for the avice man, I will try this! Hopefully I will find time to do some reference drawings of random legs today.
I am busy with all the shit you can think of exept drawing. That makes me really angry somehow. Today I will be back home quite late again so I will have to draw and paint through the night, that kinda sucks but I do really hope that better days will come soon
Here are the only two things I drew the last two days, sorry for not being able to show some more......
here is a lifepainting I did yesterday, I didn't finish it as you see. I still don't know if I am happy with it or not, surely it's gettin better with each attempt. As usual my scanner screwed it up as hell

here is some more stuff I just draw. more will come tomorrow
The next chapter of " Die gestalt des Menschen" deals with feet but since I wanna finish the anatomy the leg I decided to just hit this chapter just in a very quick way. I will come back to it when I finished the (lower)leg.

Hey dude what's cooking? Been slacking the scetchbook-section for a while now and I see I missed a big part of your progres! Your anatomy is already so much better than mine!
October 6th, 2005 #16
You are going to be the master of hips.
October 7th, 2005 #17

Faust - Thanks man, yeah I am missing your sketchbook here
Nutter - yeah man, I hope so
pennington - Cheers, thanks for the kind word man!!
Today is a day full of decisions:
I decided to kick my lazy butt harder
I decided to participate in C.O.W. #25 and so
I decided to put awy gottfreid bammes for a short time as I want to concentrate on my "Arctic Carnivore" .
So here is one more page of feet .
The following sketches are a few ideas for my C.O.W. This is the stuff that first came too my mind but soon I noticed that this ideas wouldn't work, since this creature looks still like mutant human and not like an animal. Another problem was that this creature had all what is "necessary" to be able to survive in an arctic environment but it doesn't work all together, it made this 'animal' look like a bunch of extremities but not like a living creature. So I decided to keep my ideas in mind and to change the shape of this creature to a more dinosaur- looking one. Thats why I did some of these quick dinosaur sketches. I will work on them later this are just general ideas.
October 9th, 2005 #19
I worked a bit more on my C.O.W. and I must say that I am almost happy with this design. I wanted it to look dangerous but not like the typical badass videogame endboss. its hard to get it right so that it still looks like a believable creature and not like some kind of overloaded shitthing
I spend the last days painting some lifepaintings but I still can't scan them beacause they aren't drying fast enough I hope that I can show 'em tomorro

cool, i can't wait to see those life paintings. with this sketch, the concept is cool, but you pretty much killed yourself when deciding to do a profile view of the creature. profiles can be really tricky, and can also really flatten your creature. try to do a 3/4 view next time! keep it up-
October 10th, 2005 #21
Odds -thanks mate! Yeah I did this profile view on purpose just to have a clear 'scheme' of the creature ( thats why it has only one arm and one leg )
Okay here are the first two life paintings:
I am not happy with the first one at all, I concentrated on very unimportant things and not n shape and value. So I painted the seccond one in black and white and it turned out waaaaayy better.
This is the final rough sketch of my C.O.W entry. I first wanted to draw this creature 'in action' haunting some animals but I am simply not good enough yet to do something like that, I would simply ruin the hole piece by trying it to look 'spectacular'so I decided to take this pose. It shows the appereance of this creature in a clear way but doesn't look too boring so that I can concentrate on painting and not on fixing noobie mistakes. I won't post more of the process just the finished painting in one or two days

wow so many repilies, cool!!
Flaskpost - yeah there will be manymanymany more of these, don't worry
Bojee- Thanks mate, glad you like 'em!
Sawa - Thanks mate, the only problem about the colored one is that it's hard to recognize that this apple is round
Faust - yeah man, I do not even participate beacause I want to win, It's just huge fun to create new creatures and well there is much too little of stuff like that in my sketchbook
That fat kid - Thanks for the ind words, man. Well here u got it
Dan1989 - thanks mate, glad u like it
so here is my finished C.O.W entry. This digital stuff is really tough I don't know why but its somehow really hard for me to render this stuff. Thats kinda strange as my pencil, and (black and white-) oil renderings look way better. I will work on that by doing more black and white digital stuff maybe it will be easier to find my mistakes. All in all I am quite happy with it, of course it isn't perfect but it's always great that it is gettin better from attempt to attempt
October 11th, 2005 #28
oi man those rl paints look great ! nailin it down there !
and your creature here really jumped up about 10 notch after you painted it man !! got a relaly good eye fo the couler !!!!!!
October 11th, 2005 #29
liam - thanks mate, it's always great too her something like that from a badass artist like you
okay here are some legs.....well some footconstruction-lines. I decided to go a bit further into the anatomy of the foot cause I relized that it's reallyreally important for the muscles of the lower leg.
Surely not a very spectacular update but a really important one in my opinion
Okay it's time to go back and paint some apples
October 12th, 2005 #30
Well haven't been that productive yesterday night here are soem more feet, it's real fun to draw 'em
