some painter stuff again. wooohooo these palette knives are fuckin awesome!

Very cool! The knee is looking unfinished though - could use more blending and finishing, smoothing out. Leave the background as is - looks great - but as the knee is the focus of the piece, it should be more IN focus. Great start!

Teigrob - Thanks for the advice, mate! as i want some quick improvement and because this stuff is real fun, I decided to finish this piece off!
I tried out the oils in painter again and then I worked on with it in photoshop to add some textures. Sure it still looks rather like a speedie but I believe that it is much better than before, and I didn't want to make a masterpiece out of it, so here is the "finished" version.

I love seeing threads like this where there is a great progression of improvement.
September 16th, 2005 #188
Kickass. Very nice studies Gloom. You're really getting there, such improvement, absolutely marvelous.
Mein Deustch ist nich so gut. Aber, kommen Sie aus Deustchland? Das stimmt!

Wow, I am really impressed with your work ~ for someone of such a young age, you are really doing some serious study, and it's very cool and encouraging to see! It will be very interesting to see your progress, and I just want to wish you good luck!

Fayt - hehe we PM-ed already
Dan - Thanks for your comment dude. Yeah you're working hard too, go and get some sleep to be able to bash out some killer studies again
Nutter - Glad u like it, keep on visiting man!
masterpug - Thanks for the nice words, dude. Hehe yeah I am from germany but why do you speak german ??
Rebeccak- Wow, thanks for the great words. It's awesome to her something like that from a killer artist like you. Hope to see u again over here sometime
Okay here is the next update. I decided that I have to kick my butt again, as I draw much too little. So here are some basic construction- pelvises (is the plural right, well whatever). Hehe they are some nice alternatives to headconstructions
They are still lookin kinda shitty but it will become better!

Keep going man!
Just try not to focus only in anatomy studies, draw from life.
September 18th, 2005 #193
Your hatching is looking real good! Like Diego said, though.. don't get too caught up in just doing the anatomystudies from books (don't stop soing them, just put some variation in there )
Pallette knives rock, huh?
September 18th, 2005 #194
Fellah. - thanks mate. Yeah I am working hard on this, great to hear that it's gettin better
Diego - Yeah these anatomystudies are really great to do but I should really do more lifedrawing. MY problem is always that I don't know what to draw from life. Yeah I know, it sounds stupid but its a real problem for me :/
dCepT - Thanks for stopping by, dude! I will do some more lifedrawing, promise. Yeah painter in generall rocks as hell. My biggest problem was that I did always think " Hell this is digital painting!" But this is actually wrong because especially painter imitates traditional media that good that you just have to think "Hell, this is painting!" Got what I mean? I believe that if you start painting with digital oils the same way that you draw with real oils, you've gone a huge step forward.
Wow, these pelvisstuff is really tough. I still don't get it right. Guess that it will take some more days, hehe but I will keep at it
Here i wanted to get a better idea of the constructive forms because i think that i still didn't figure out these forms correctly....
September 18th, 2005 #195
man, that pelvis studies looks sweet. I wish i had that book.
About what to draw, i think everything is a subject. From cars, buildings, people, animals, trees, chairs, bottles, you know what i mean, very common stuff.
I had the same problem, i used to think, what should i draw, i need something static to draw, where i find it. So i decided to go out and sit in a bench and draw whatever cross my sight. You could try it.
Good luck and keep up with bammes.

Great stuff, Gloom! I second Van on the clean lines comments. Very nice work. The studies are great. Do you feel their paying off in your other work? I know just from small amounts of study here and there I always see some improvment, y'know? The pelvis studies are crucial too. My anatomy drawing teacher told us that he feels the pelvis is the most important aspect of the figure. So maybe keep that in mind! You're doin' yourself quite a service! Great SB, bro.

Diego- Thanks man. Yeah I have said to me "NOW you will go to the park and draw all the stuff you see out there" so many times now, the time has come to DO so! There will be some nice lifedrawing in here, promise!
van- Thanks mate, glad you like em!
ZebzFree - Yeah sure, its paying off, especially when I draw completely from mind. And it's great that you don't need to study that much to see some effords in imaginary drawing, that rocks! Yeah Mr.Bammes, whose Book I am reading at the moment considers the pelvis to be one of the most improtant parts of the body as well. I will study as hell till I get it right!
Okay, Ladies and gentleman!
Studies are great but it's time to bring some change in here! I wanna draw more from life and imagination so studies will have to wait for a week or so, after all the reason why I am here ist that I wanna show my imagination and drawing skills, not ONLY bones and muscles. So here is the first hyperawesome nes shitstuff. Nobody asked me to do this but you have to watch it NEVERTHELESS, hehehe. I decided to do some Painter WIP to show you all of my incredibly awesome paintingprocess . no honestly, I wanna show you my proces so that you are able to give crits and comment during the painting process, so that I can avoid early noobie basic mistakes.
So I surfed through concetart.org's reference forum and got some photos to paint from.
here is the reference :
surely not a very pretentious image but I choose it bacause it has clear forms and some nice texture in it, so its a great piece to begin with!
And here u got my first step, blocking in basic shapes :
I used the Paletteknives because I believe that they are one of Painter's best tools for clean blocking
I keep these pictures small but at the end you will get a badass full size image!

Th pelvis is hard to understand at first, you gotta keep at it! You've got a good start on the digital painting, just keep working on the big shapes and values, if you don't get them right, adding lots of details won't help any. Can't wait to see more!

killer.. alles gut! ich wŘrde immernoch sagen komm mal weg von den knien und muskelstrńngen und zeichne was da drŘber ist ;P aber trotzdem fortschritt ist zu erkennen mach weiter
September 20th, 2005 #202
Dan- Thanks dude! Yeah finally it pays of that my father works as a stonemason, as I asked him to get a block of sandstone for me, so that I can sculpt the pelvis, hehe I am really looking forward to it! It was pretty hard at the beginning, just as you said but it gets betetr, its all a matter of understanding. I believe that you have to understand it inside your brain before u can draw it properly.
Krakel - Jop bin da ganz deiner meinung, hab jetzt echt vor mehr nach lebendem Modell zu zeichnen und nicht nur muskeln aus bŘchern zu lernen, schlie▀lich muss ich das gelernte ja auch anwenden . Thanks for the comment, mate!
Oaky here is the next step. Surely this one is not even worth posting, but I felt like posting some shit Hehe I am slowly developping to a posting .
Okay here is what I did:
I took a closer look at the image and added some more color to get this "yellowish" look. I am not oncentrating on color at the moment taht much. Moreover I blocked in some more rough values.
The next step will contain some workout of the stairs and the upper wall of the image.

as I promised, heres ite first of manymanymany lifedrawings. Ot was real fun to do that, but the last days are fucking stressfull, so that I just can't find much time to draw but today will be better
September 22nd, 2005 #204
weh, here is the next 'step'. Somehow I am not motivated at all with this one, I don't know why :/ . I worked about 45 minutes more on this piece and got soon very listless. So here is it once more with just a little change.
Guess that I will do more of this bedsheet stuff and life drawing in genreal, this was real fun!
September 22nd, 2005 #205
Rock on buddy!!!
Keep the hard work, that cloth study is coming along nicely, try to push more the values, edges, to get a better read of the form.
September 22nd, 2005 #206
Like your anatomy study gloom, you are devoted and it shows especially in your line quality as I followed your progress from your frst sketch pages really cool fabric studies. The only thing is sometimes your line quality I would like to see it cleaner keep the pressure light to empahsis light and shadow. Again good job on your stuff if I could have drawn like you do at your age I would be little happier with my stuff.
September 22nd, 2005 #207
Diego- Yeah thanks for the advice, I will give my best when I do the next cloth study ( this means that I will do my best in about 5 minutes )
Bubstar- thanks for stopping by dude and thanks even more for this great advice! Yeah I am stil working hard on my line quality. When I concentrate on clean lines it often works pretty good, but my hand often tries to tempt me to draw this really ugly lines, but its gettin better . By the way, your line quality is excellent.
Well I know that I said that I will leave the studies for about one week but I think that they persecute me. Its like 100 little pelvis spinning around in my head calling 'draw us, draw us'! hehe obviously not a bad thing but I will definitely keep at the life drawing stuff for some time now
whow I just notced that my scanner really needs to be cleaned

van - Thanks dude, You don't have any idea of how I needed that post, lol. I realize that lazieness began to own me, shit! As I read this comment I got my ass up at once and started drawing, I am really drawing much to little, I gonna do everything to change that, promise!
So here are todays morning drawings, more to come later!
more cloth studies.
some more pelvis again!
Yeah,hm just dont think about it
September 24th, 2005 #210
here is some more pelvisstuff, I drew during the day. I would draw more If I hadn't to learn for a bullshit Biology-exam
