Can someone give me some tips for printing out art?

Im trying to print some artwork of mine but all of the pics keep coming out pixelated.......some images I have to scale to fit because they show up small on the print preview, even though the image is of a large enough size to print out at almost full 8 1/2 by 11 scale paper. If anyone can tell me their methods for printing or any tips that I should consider before printing, I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!

To have your images print well, you need to be sure you create them at a resolution of 300 px per inch, instead of the monitor display default of 72 ppi. That is why they look pixelated, because you are stretching those 72 pixels into 250-300, and so all the "jaggies" show up clearer.

To be more clear about this, if you are preparing the artwork for publication, in a commercially printed magazine for instance, the artwork needs to be at the actual size in inch or pixel dimensions and saved at 300 ppi (pixels per inch). If you are instead printing the artwork on photo paper from your inkjet printer or from a color laser printer from a service like Kinkos, it still needs to be the actual size it will print but you could get by with 150-200 ppi.
