There's some great images here!!
But mine looks completely different on my home PC!!? I think i need to get my gamma sorted...
And i know Molly had to get 'em up quick, but it's a bit confusing and difficult to work out who's northern or southern... some norfies are 'A' and some are 'B'... And the blah vs blah doesn't always correspond to the order of the pictures... Any chance of sticking in a 'N' or 'S' by the names? Am i being daft?
So when's the judging?

Good stuff, guys. Of course, you'll all fall before me next time
I particularly noted Spud's (for some reason, this just cracks me up!) and Poshspice's (awesome technique... but, er, it's the exact same thing you keep doing!).

Midnight - Yeah, I know... sorry! I have no imagination. I draw hairy blokes all day at work and it ends up being a catharsis to get home and draw chicks...
Anway - 'Eres my 'alfpenny's worth...
Matt - I dunno how you do it! It still looks like you even with the mask on! You are wearing a mask right?
Dirty_C - Something else man! The colour and tonal quality of this is amazing! The guy at the back - is that you? - seems a bit dispassionate to the chaos around him perhaps... but maybe he's reading a text message from his GF.
Sketchling - It so cool to see a character piece here! Cool composition and loads of depth here, oh dark nemesis!
Psohsipec - Same old from the Freak with a girls name...
Summer Pudding - This has a real feeling of an old masters painting about it. Loads of action, and energy and I love the palette. Perhaps there could have been more of the orange light reflected on the robot to bring the right of the composition intio frame more. Fab!
Molly - You are a girl right? Wow! Great composition and ace expression here. She/you are really into this killing lark!
Trev - You had fun with this, dint'cha? There's something about this that reminds me of the Mona Lisa. Can you tell what it is?
Badger - Heh heh! I already told ya what I think of this! Where's the packet of fags and the white streak, you spreader of bovine TB you!
Illustrious Harry - Golly, so much depth... it just goes back and back... Do you know it reminds me of street scenes from Tunisia or Venice. You could almost see washing hanging from window to window. Which ones you?
Soul Child - I love the way your gripping the floor with one set of toes and not the other! It's like a human, mecha, insect hybrid! Sheeit! I wouldn't mess...
munozvelasquez - Great design and use of heavy contrast! Cool! Is he a master at using the bagpipes as a lethal weapon, (which they kinda are anyway I 'spose....)
Anarky - Who wears the trousers in that relationship I wonder! You got a fur thing going on here right...? I love the post apocalyptic feel of this, but is that the north behind... or maybe the south!?
spyroteknik - Excellent design work here, and what an intense expression! Superb detail, and cool overhead lighting...
koshime - Big f**k off paintbrushes, but what are you/him holding... a scalpel? I love this, but it looks kind of cold... you must be about to destroy Manchester...
Mop - More intensity... that gaze! Phew... Great technique and rendering. Only crit, slightly long right forearm.
Duddlebug - That is such a good likeness! Wonderful! And you even managed to get a monkey in!
Red Giant - If that was a guitar, I'd swear you could be in Spinal Tap. It's so.... Zen! Like you have just killed and regret it, so are asking for forgiveness. "And the snow was stained red..."
oven_g_love - Hells teeth on a bike! What the... What I want to see is whts on the end of that umbilical! This scares me... I'm glad your fighting for the North!
Imery - Gorgeous! Lovely atmosphere and setting! There's a kind of shamanistic quality to this... a bit Nephilim! Er...
youngpaddy1 - Haha! Great stuff! If you don't beat up a southern poofta you can fix the washing machine instead! Is that a Swiss Army spanner?
Baaaah! - He's really neat! Fab expression and attitude. You don't really look like that do you? What's the boomerangy thing your/he's holding?
Phew... had a moment so I thought, what the heck!

I must admit, Matt, I'm annoyed that you managed to pull that off in such short time you bugger. Oh well, next time, maybe. I do wish I'd submitted a bigger version of it - I guess I work too big, cause I think most of my stuff looks better printed than online. I'm gonna be cheeky and link to a slightly bigger version here: http://toeslikefingers.com/gallery/cm_td3.jpg And total credit Matt, you're looking more like Bisley every day - the treatment of the flesh is beautiful. And yes.. interesting couple of weapons there
Great job for an environment guy, Kim! And I think that posh has made a friend for life with the Shamanic Qualities comment on Imery's
Most of the others I didn't see in the making, so aren't sure whose is whose. Trev though, nice job - I'm really amazed by the quality of all of them.
Now when the hell are we gonna get some judging? I won't be able to handle it if it stretches on into infinity like so many TDs do..

OK Molly, your just asking for that Spanking arnt you!
Do you know whats comming?
Do you know wat im going to say???
How is my user name spelled?
Thats right, now come here, bend over and prepare to have a pair of glowing cheeks!
Posh mate, its probebly the Sarf in my image background. Being a Northerner in the South, maybe its me imagining the scene after I have devestated the landscape in a crusade against people who spell things correctly *Looks at molly - wink *.
Seriously for a moment...
Thinking about my image, and what it perhaps means, i think both people in the image are me. Representing different sides to my personality.
The Guy is Big, but seems quiet and introspective. His size representing my strength of conviction and drive. I believe im a strong person and do what I think is right and this power shows that side of me.(I am not in anyway anywhere near that muscly) His introspection showing that I am a quiet person and can be shy round new people. The girl is my feminine side, my softer side. The red hair showing that I can be passionate about things as well. (Also I have a thing for Red Heads ).
Comments and Crits are welcome.
I am kinda happy with this, but feel I could have done WAY better. But there are elements im pleased with, the mood and atmosphere being one element im pleased with.
I think the poses could have been better.
Im very impressed with the Art on here.
To mention a couple...
Posh, your work is amazing as always, although you have worried me that you see yourself as a Ladee...with a ferret...and a vicking helmet!
My dear opponant. Your work is astounding as always. Very well done.
Matt, WOW, love it.
Well done to everyone. Theres some great work on here and im very impressed. Some wicked humor too!
The sound of palm striking against soft pert flesh resounds into the distance.

Spyro, that detail is awesome. You're right, it really did suffer from the compression.. We should probablty specify something about the dimensions of the next ones - like, biggest dimension is 700 across or something like that.

Stellar work, guys and girls. Lots of good stuff here.
March 17th, 2005 #29
Here i go super quick.
I'll try to come back later with a more detailed review but can't promise.
First - GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!!! Like.. wow!
1A vs 1B
Boy this is a hard one to decide. Love the colors on 1B more, composition interesting too, but 1A has more impact and stronger concept (even if a bit on the Quake2 style) In a battle... 1A might kick 1B - it's the pink purse versus the cell phone.
On the other hand i'm not sure wich part of 1A looks like MD? Since i can't judje that, even if i suspect a stray from the rule, i declare in my POV the winner 1A.
I just wish i could set both as winners though. Great stuff.
2A vs 2B
Hmm... 2A took the classic path and almost manage it. However the portrait seems a pit "placed" - the posture isn't very naturalm the dynamic of the view just misses the viewer and also i think i would prefere a wider range of temperature on the colors. I love the mood of the forest, the eyes expression (that eyebrow is great) and soem other details here and theer (like the hair).
Your character is cool due to the setting and the attitude - not froma a design pov.
2B - a more daring concept yet a static pose. the colors seem like have been de-saturated all in the end - it turns the piece a bit flat. that arm reminds me of Bioforge and you gotta love the pet (even if not the focus of the battle, i'm a fan of mixing cool <lather, swords, etc> with cute <pet, pink ears, etc >)
Winner: 2B - hey - you got my initials there! 8)
3A vs 3B
Well... here again is tough to decide. While the main char in 3A is all washedm undetailed, lacks design etc, the overal picture is very nice - issues here and there but the "traditional" feel, thelight sna soem textures are great. A bit more work on the concept and we would have a clear winner.
3B is also kind of classicalm a very "van gogh-ish" sky, and .. uhh.. TITS
I would award 3A for being more daring, and witha better technique - each of you chraracters could take the lady from 3B (assuming the author is a lady and not the monster) but your main char is just washed. That tells me that wither you love yourself too much and tried to put your best into the main just to run out if timem either you have not enough confidance you your hero-self. Both cases... you almost had the point.
4A vs 4B
Ha ha - 4A is more punchy - it could use some more color work but hey... who can win agains him?
4B - love the "art infusion" - watch proportions and pose.
5A vs 5B - i'm having a hard time seing the resamblance with the author in each of the pieces. 5A - better execution, 5B - better char.
YOu could use some references in you work guys.
Winner: 5B - i guess...
Damn.. i'm running out of time. Sorry if i have to be shorter.
6A vs 6B
6A - better concept, (more original if you want), better execution too.
6B - trouble guessing the hero anathomy issues, don't use black for shadows.
well.. for the rest of unsatisfied warriors, please add yourself another point from me. Delivering in time gets my respect. If your enemy gets here later - he'll have to be way too good kick you.
Sry for the typos - french keyboard.. oh boy....
damn - conference call - bye bye
March 17th, 2005 #30
Well, here they all are. It was worth the wait.
Matt Dixon vs Dirty_C
This is perhaps the toughest one to call; I'm glad I'm not judging it. Christian, I think this is the best piece of yours I've seen to date. The bloodied warrior is especially good, and the lighting is really well thought out. Judging by work of yours I've seen in the past, I'd say you were trying to subdue the palette; take some of the heat, and intensity out of your colours. Perhaps you went too far here. A splash of vivid colour here and there would have taken this piece into the stratosphere.
Matt, again, this is one of your best pieces to date. It's laugh out loud funny, and wonderfully executed. You both have a trademark style, that I really admire.
Sketchling vs Poshspice
Sketch, yes mate, I like it. The palette is strong and subdued in all the right places. Why do I always focus on palettes and lighting? sheesh!
Poshspice, in the words of Emperor Joseph II in Amadeus, "Too many notes. Just cut a few, and it'll be perfect." Nah, I'm only taking the piss. This is a great piece. Someone said you only ever paint one thing. If you do that one thing to this standard, I don't give a shit.
Summer Pudding vs Molly
Molly, I made a solemn vow that I'd be magnanamous in defeat. MY ARSE!!! No, I like this painting. There's loads of energy and rage in it. It reminds me of listening to Slayer when I was a kid. Styling headgear too.
btw, we chose 'Die Cliche die!!!!' as our theme. Hence the JagerMech Assault Toaster, and decapitated chrome robot lady.
My boss is sniffing around, and I aint working. I'll post some more pearls of wisdom later.
