Looks pretty good at the moment, only crits are some of the folds of fat on his chest just don't seem right. All I can say can't wait to see it finished.

Edit: Just noticed that atm the legs aren't really that mechanical, if they're supposed to be, because of the similar tone colors on the skin.

    Thanks guys, great comments.

    Blue Sphere:

re: folds in chest - agree with you there and am going to try and find some sort of ref that will help for that.

re: legs - not quite sure where I'm going with those at the moment (although I was originally thinking of making them organic, more crab/insect--like). Thanks for highlighting that - they obviously need more attention

    Thanks again.

    Cheers,
    Simon

    cateaic - thanks

Anyway - Update - obviously, I'll have to work the new light source into the main figure, but aside from that, any other comments?

    sick!!

very nice concept and nice backgroud-foreground elements on the update, but the background seems a little bit "powerful", somewhat dominating the figure. maybe you'd lower the contrast or saturation. other than that, no crits; just appreciation

Thanks Ender - I've had a couple of other comments re: the background flames, and I'll definately be working on those.

BTW - some of the original roughs for the creature:

WIP update - still got a lot to do but hope to have this done by Easter's end (paid gigs permitting).

And for those interested, a detail shot of the maw...

    Cheers,
    Simon
