I think we should have the right to obstain from saying the 'Pledge of Allegiance' or rising for the National Anthem. I personally refuse to pledge allegiance... But then again, I'm sure that this kid doesn't have political or social ideals that would keep him from doing so and he was just being an asshole.

...That that case, I'm all for beating the crap out of asshole kids!

lol, I'm all for reinstating school beatings again in my opinion. I live in a family full of teachers and the level of disrespect that students have nowadays is beyond anything anyone in my family has ever seen before in their teaching careers. Good for the teacher. Is this the same teacher that the students baited into screaming when they were being assholes during the national anthem?

From the way it sounds, I think in this case the kid was just being a jerk and just wanted attention. If he said he wasn't going to do it because he didn't politically, or religiously agree with it, it would have been different. I think the guy did the right thing.

In Locos Parentis, it wouldn't be considered child abuse if your parent did it to you.

Of course, this does necessitate some closer scrutiny, but not much. Besides, everyone is an asshole in High school and they all deserve it. Par for the course! God, I'm glad I'm 20!
