    i breath gasoline

Nixon - not shabby it looks pretty good as far as structure goes, i think you should try and draw you shoulders in a little, it would help you sp look stronger.

los and lucky - expressive sp's hehe i can't really crit those, but they are neat

endregan - nice job, they look so much better! your ear appears to be a little low. I think you shoud try and control you strokes more and increase the contrast. possibly try making the strokes follow the forms of your face. also remember everything is a 3-dimensional object, your eyes are what really don't jive to well compared to the shadow side of your face. keep it up man you a getting alot better!

    --------------------------------------------------------------
this is my work in progress + dp exploration, i had to fix some of my features since it didn't look to much like me before. my nose was way off and now it is pretty close to what it really looks like. if anyone has tips for dp and some methods do share

time to study... hehe late night for me

Love the first one, Los. Badass goggles! Also, Nixon, 10 minutes with a mirror? Looks great!

Here's mine: By the way, is the blend brush in Painter as big of a No-No as the smudge tool is in Photoshop? I'm new to painter.

Fixed my big nose to be at a more correct angle!

klinesmoker - not shabby, i like the dynamic pose! bad ass. not really anything to frits on it besides maybe a little more contrast, but that is all i can notice. would you mind sharing what you used for this piece, such as materials and software. good work

    Insura - greetings!

magicgoo - ohh a monochromatic in yellow is hard, hehe. hmm the perspective on your nose seems off. as far as the blend tool for painter, i never use it unless there is a real need for it.

los - i like the energy with in yours, very loose work.

cyrus - looking good, i would check your right eye the perspective/placement is off and is throwing off your portrait. keep working on it!

this kept me up late once again, hehe i start working one way and i realize i hate painting a certain way, still trying to find my g spot

payback - the one thing that is really noticeable is that your forms are flat, try using three values only lights, darks, and your middle value, this willhelp push what the form is and what it is doing. also don't for get your perspective, try to keep your lines from flattening the form. lines can be a great way to illustrate form but you need to be aware how use it so your drawings don't look flat (unless that is your goal) i don't know if this is what you wanted but i felt it might help. keep draw'n

jens - not shabby i like your hatching it is nice work the bottom of the chin flattens out the face, the chin looks like a complete side view, but the lips and nose tell me different. then again i wasn't there. cool shite. what size is it?

Kent Caldwell - was that for a class?

    Click!

Burk - glad to here you want to get better! well you are off to a good start but try to always be thoughtful and mindful of every line that you place down, unless you are doing some specific. try think of the head as a box to help you get the prespective. let me know if you want more info...

jens - ah i see that is why that has some similar aspects to it heh, i am enjoying the loseness of the drawing, you also keep the perspective which is a plus. the only thing that i see is the placement of the lips are off.

Adam Carnes - thanks for the comment. great painting looks alot better than what i can do heh. your pinky finger looks a little long to me.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
CLICK! these past couple of days has been frustrating all around with school and drawing. i hate bullshit busy work assignments. but i must say i feel much better after this. before i did this i thought i was going to break my room apart with frustration.

Endregan - sup dood! i like your progress, it looks good. i think you need to up your contrast more to push your forms, i rather see you go to far with your contrast then not enough. you need to know what to much is. also i think your lips could use some more structure they don't really look they are wrapping around the mandible(sp? ) or it might just be that your center line on the lips seems to twist a little. either way it is looking good keep it up.

what do you mean by more refined, are you talking about a more realized drawing. like how i use to get sometimes with my pencils?

Burk- could you make yours alittle bigger and more contrast so we can see your lines better, if you do that i can give you a better crit.

    adios

Been having one heck of a time, so I haven't posted much recently. That was done in a little program known as Gimp, and it pretty much is. No wacom pad, so it took forever.

I made a self portrait of my hand, a neo-Saint George in a fight with the evil dice of hazard. Just don't look at the face, don't know who it is...

Drawn from life with a mirror, 30 minutes. It's very "un-finished", I draw slow. My nose is that wide.. I measured! Anyway can anybody share their methods on sighting when drawing portraits? For me I use the eye to measure the width of the head and the nose for the height.. not sure if it's wrong or anything.
