    very nice portrait.
Mostly i see some length problems here and there. Some hands are bigger in length sometimes(these that are on a kind of foreshortening), sometimes some parts are bigger in relation to their neighbors.Like feet in some of them.Try to measure how much each part should be done(like you have very nice depicted some figures)

    keep up the good work

Haven't been in ages! I particularly like your gestural sketches of clothed figures, seems very effective and just the right about of lines to make them descriptive...great job. Its proof your observational skills are doing great.

The portrait is looking good and I can see you playing with a few skin colors. I'm thinking about posting my ref along with the image to help the critiquing process, so it would be good for you to post it in this case I think. Nothing looks very wrong, it just might help!

Unless you are doing a very exact duplicate, its always nice to pump up the highlights a tiny bit in the eyes, nose, lips etc and pop those forms a bit more.

Thanks for dropping by my SB and I thank you a thousand times for your crit and encouragement
You have some great lines going on here, your progress is undeniable, I dig these jets you posted in #323 and I got to say that your sketches #333 are great, how long does it take for you to draw such figures?
    Cheers

Niiice updates zou I'm loving your gesture studies, especially the blacked out ones, really nice form on them. I noticed too that your proportions on your legs can sometimes be a bit off, I think on some of them the thigh is too short and the calf too long, but these things just come to you more with practice I think.

Keep up the good work mate

Parsakoira: thanks mate! me too i would like see finished one
kingkostas: thanks for pointing it, more practice ! keep your sb rocking, that's keep me wanting to draw more
Jakers: hi there, thanks for passing by ! it's a pleasure i didn't intended to exact copy the portrait this time i didn't post ref (there will be much errors)
i popped the highlights like you said (not too much so the skin don't appear too oily) hope the result is good
Steve G.: thanks for commenting my sb. the figure takes about 20 min(the one from mind) for the gesture varies it's like posemaniacs 10-30 sec.

Angel Intheuk: thanks for the kind and useful comments ! don't hesistate to point me wrong things.

dunno about finished or not, but it is surely an improved rendering mate!!!very good work. You have rendered the outlines and that makes it very nice and 3d looking.I love it.
    Also nice fashion style work.
    keep up the improvement

hey zou ! great stuff ! you really improved at every aspect ! for your gesture, you should more be focused on the action, how the body's twisting ( because for a believable pose, there is ALWAYS a twist, even if it's really slightly ! ) you should read the first chapters about bridgman's life drawing book ! he's talking really well about the twist, and other stuff about rhythm, balance, etc ! anyway, keep it up ! i'll check this sketchbook often to see your improvment !

kingkostas:thanks for encouragements. héhé, by finished i meant 'smoothy' like we say in french 'léché'
kikindaface: merci mon pote yes you're right about it, sometimes i need a reminder to assimilate the books i read (and much practice).
Lightmode108: hi, thanks for passing by. I meant many things (or exercices)
do thousands of straight lines (then curved, then circle ....) also do lines to prepare for painting. Like Ingres said : you must be able to depict everything in lines even fog ! This will also force you to be more accurate.. do many line drawing before moving to shading

Hiya like the fashion doodle alot, if you made her legs a bit more structured that would work as a finished piece the portraits are looking fabulous, your rendering keeps getting better, careful not to lose too much form though around the edges like the chin and cheeks, I do that often and it can make the painting look too flat. and I think you can get away with going a bit darker on the shadows, not too much though, maybe some dark unsaturated blue or violet.

Anyway keep up the studies, looking good mate

Wow... you rock, zou! I love the your life drawing on the upper post of this page. The lines are simple, yet really capturing the essence of their poses. What do we usually say it, economic lines? (I'm a newbie hehehe ;P)

Oh yeah, thx for the bargue-photo post! After I do the bargue drawing, I'll let you know!

    Hi Zou

I dig your gestural style in those pencil studies! Think you could gain more if you transferred that style to your digital work as well

    Great work, keep doin it!
