    Interesting technique, but seems kinda like he makes a lot of extra work for himself by going through all those steps. Can't really say that's a bad thing, just different.

    Well, I doubt that he does that every time. He drew in things in the skeleton that he couldn't possibly have used to define the form. This was, as the above poster said, a delibrate use of the progression itself as art
