cool ender, how did you improve to where you are now? did you copy things or did you draw things from your head, because theres only 2 weeks left before i go back to school and i want to improve the best i can in these last two weeks, any tips will be appreciated, and keep up the good work!

qxzi, i did not do any direct copyings but i did (and still do) studies of other artists (loomis and hogarth mostly), or just observation (there is plenty of great artists to be inspired from, on these forums) to understand how they do what they do... i do not use much photo ref. only use them when i feel stuck. other than that mostly from mind. (i wish i had the chance to do life drawings ) i strongly advice you keep a sketchbook and draw daily. art is like sports really, you need to practice to stay fit. (you can see that from my last couple of pencil stuff. real crappy )

    i hope you'll do fine

ok, i decided to post some old stuff (about 6 months old and posted before) to keep them together. newer ones will be coming tonight...

i shall take that to heart. thanks a lot sir. i'll be putting up a SB at SoFA in the next few days. i just didn't want to dump my old stuff there.

qxzi--> good luck dude. why don't u post your stuff here. i'm sure you'll get very valuable feedback.

panda--> thanks for the feedback man. feet are just one mistake among others. i really don't like the anatomy on that one

fernament--> sağol i'll check back your SB.

ok, now. here's another self portrait. much better than the last one i think. tho i still have much work to do, for improving my rendering. i'm trying not to use smudgesticks these days. also contrast still needs much work. wanted to do some char designs too but i'm to tired and sleepy. going to bed (hey, it's 1.30 am here, lol )

btw, i didn't imagine how hard it was to draw with a mirror.

Wow. Astonishing work. I have to say that I love your rendering style, even though everyone else already said it. It just needs saying. Only one crit - on the last one, perhaps pupils and irises would make you look more. . . human?
    Again, wonderful stuff.

Just had a chance to go through your SB. I must say great pieces. You're very imaginative. I like the pencils and the OC work. Keep posting.

    Hey Ender

I like your stuff, your pencil technique is great!

The best part is that you're trying to do something different - I can see you're always striving for original ideas in your designs.

That's what it's all about (coz anyone can learn to draw*, it's what you draw that counts and really sets you apart! Channel something weird!!!!!)

    cheers

    VORIX

    * well... there are some great artists out there who drew/draw stuff from the real world, no disrespect to them (bows and apologises) but personally, I just can't get enough fantasy!!

thanx a lot for the kind words guys
heh, i just didn't felt like drawing the irises on the SP

now, i've just seen marko's he-man redesigns and was astonished!! giving him due credit for the inspiration, i thought it would be great practice to do some redesign work (as i'm somewhat short of original ideas lately), and chose the subject matter as fallout, my all time fave. will be doing lots of chars on that one, here's a brotherhood of steel paladin to start with... not very happy with the legs. hopefully i'll learn much, both renderwise and designwise in the progress.
