this is great looking work! the guy is a wonderful bit of design and texture.

the woman is a little stiffer than the man. sometimes this comes with over rendering what you think you know about anatomy, too much noseness, too much chiness etc. the background on her piece has too many hard edges as well that distract form her form and design.

i very much look forward to seeing other posts from you.

Thank's a lot for all crits, and especially for the detailed crits!
Jon, I've see your artwork inside the catalogue of the best illustrators of america, but i suspect that you have paint an marvelous HellBoy portrait
that you have bring with you at the SanDiego ComicCon around summer 1999/2000!!!
Anyway I know your art and your website (not only estetic art, but full of minds).
I'm sorry for my ugly english, i hope that my little words can explain my consideration about your art.

    Bests,

    Jack

these are a great start - you need to put more time into the detailing though. The girl for example is not even rendered from the knees down. Just the original line work which looks weird. Also I agree with foster the background needs either softer edges or a greater value range depending on what kind of mood you want.

Love the designs - keep at it man.
