    Leaves

This will no doubt be my last still life for a while. It takes sooo long and make mine eyes hurt.
It took a while, like 6 hours.. maybe more. I wasn't really watching the clock when I started.

    Reference

Still lives just don't feel as satisfying as something completly alien and new. If that makes sense. I think I enjoy 'creating' rather than recreating. But you can't do one without the other I suppose. =]

Good job. Youre right it doesnt feel satisfying if don't create something by youre self.
But this is a good job and it only took you 6 hours???? !!

^ hours is a long time! X_X Thanks. I always want to post the refs to show the difference in mine and the original. In the case of the rose it didn't seemto work though. But Flattering none the less. Thanks for the kind words. =]

Good work! It is a water color? It will be pertinent to specify the size of this painting.

Nah, the painting is digital(photoshop). I'm not sure what the demensions would be, it is about 6000 pixels wide.

That's pretty cool, I like the effect you created. You could sell something like that for people to hang over their couches or in doctors offices, I've seen such things. I've always felt like still lives were more beneficial done in natural media. Every time I did one digitally I felt I didn't get much out of it. Hope you have better luck.

The only thing I see to mention is the purple color. Perhaps if you made this a dark green/black the subject would pop even more.

Nice work. I'm glad that you were not a slave to the photo refference. You left out several elements from the photo which would be extrainious and distracting in the painting.

Yes, i think I may do away with the blue. I like how blue makes things look distant though. Thanks for the good advice guys! =]

Nice texture you've achieved there. It almost looks like it's done on canvas.

your values are fine, but your shapes are off. Both on a mass level and and edge level. spend a bit more time on shape recognition and back it up with those valuse at itll be poifect. Good observation. Digital still lives are a lot harder to create (imo), so well done.

Did you paint over the photo?
