    (- Fragile Shell GITS -)

hey guys, you may or may not have seen this else where a while ago...i was going to post it here earlier but my website bandwidth took a beating and so had been down for a while

anyway i created this piece because of my love for all things Ghost in the Shell...and this image is devoted to the Anime series - Stand Alone Complex.

I wanted a new poster for my room and so set about creating this image so that i could get my hands on a 20 by 30 inch print

    so here it is

    (- Fragile Shell GITS -)

    and some full res details

    (- Fragile Shell GITS -)

    (- Fragile Shell GITS -)

    (- Fragile Shell GITS -)

refernce on some signs ...slight error on one of them (been meaning to fix that )

good work, the arm holding the gun looks wonky, perhaps it is too short? or the persepective isnt reading correctly on it, The shoulder pads transition to the skin tight green latex just looks odd, makes her arms look even skinnier, just an observation.

get back to work on ND man : )

This is awesome. I just got the Innocense DVD. My god every frame is jaw dropping good, but the last 10 minutes absolutely blew me away. The way they animated the dolls was so sick.

C+C - the bg is amazing. I would like to see her hair a little clumpier more like the original and her - um - croth area is a touch wonkey. The muscle on the inner thigh are not connecting correctly.

    bad ass!

holy fucking shit! first thing i saw, i saw dynamic uses of colors to create a action scene.. superb work, i just love the sense of action..
only thing i have a comment about is her hand holding the pistol.. it has sort of a funny look to it.. pistol feels like it should be more titled on an angle...thats about it thought, great use of colors.

    Thumbs up

    Looks great!

    A couple of crits:

    - The blurred Fuchikoma (tank) arm really doesn't do much for me, but it does suggest more action in the scene than it would have otherwise...

    - Motoko (I assume that's her... I have not seen GitSAC) looks really good, especially her hair and visor, but everything else seems to be a few steps too low in detail.

But, having read the GitS original Manga, I really like this pic, and everything seems pretty accurate. Keep at it!

Wow, god that is sweet. The visor is incredible, great job. The pistol looks a little weird though. It looks very difficult to hold, with that thing that wraps around.

Get a mirror in your studio. Try to hold the position yourself and look at your arm, compare it to your other arm, etc.

It'll cost you $20-50 for a large mirror, but hey, it's got a million uses!!

I noticed the issue with the gun arm when I first saw this on DA and I couldn't quite figure out what it was that bugged me about it, but I think I've got it now. It's not necessarily that the arm or hand is in the wrong position, but the gun itself. She's flexing her wrist forward and you've chosen to rotate the gun to match, but I think the result is the gun appears to cut into her wrist...I don't think there's physically enough space for the back of the gun to fit in the area you've chosen to put it.

Anyways, great to see some new work from you. Been WAY too long!

Nice work, I like it a lot.

The main thing that grabs me is the proportions. Her stabilizing arm is way too long and her hand way too small.

That's the main thing that's distracting my eye.

the hand is actually about the right size...place your hand on your face, starting from the chin and have the fingers touching just above you eye brows,...you will see that it covers most of your face, the hand in that image fits across the face too. The arm itself maybe a bit long, but what the hell she is a machine anyways

the helicopters are actually modelled on Hornet flys...the gatlin gun pod is place at the back of the copter and is able to manouver in any direction on a pivot joint...its held underneath at the moment because its firing forward.... look up the designs on net if you want more clarity.

good work i have a few crits though like..
-i believe the charactor shows lots of contrast and that is good because it should be the center of focus but everything else should still reside in the same realm of contrast like the robot that she is on should sport much darker darks
    - your work would be 10 x better if you put more texture quality into it look on the internet for grundge maps try dvgarage.com ,use these maps to place tons of detail into your images that would be extremely hard to do other wise
    - if you haven't desaturated your image to see what it looks like without color then do it i think you might see that the main helicopter could use a stronger core shadow
-the back arm could be a little short and the robot's forms don't exactly read like they are on the surface they are supposed to be
i sometimes when stuck like to create a simple 3d model or look at nature if i have a problem i would say don't be afraid of using 3d
finally i would say the robot needs to have a dramatically darker shadow

but nice work it has alot of nice qualities to it
and i too know the drive to decorate your room with self made art its cool!!!
