Lately I can't get enough of
and Stan Kenton
also I dig George Benson.
pepper is so good without being over the top. He knows when to reign it in, and when to go nuts.

I self-published a book on the fundamentals of drawing from life.
I'm currently listing to some older jazz like duke ellington, some billy holliday. I've also got some georges benons, charlie parker, the dave brubeck quartet etc. Jazz is sooo good while doint art
I really like Cannonball Adderly (alto saxophonist) at the moment, these two albums in particular:
Cannonball Adderly Quintet - Them Dirty Blues
Cannonball Adderly - Takes Charge
Edit: I agree about Art Pepper. Winter Moon is my favourite album of his.
Also for good upbeat Big Band music, try Michel Camilo's album One More Once.

anyone who likes jazz will love this internet radio station http://www.kkjz.org/
check it out, 24 hours of live radio, with great jazz and blues all day and night. woot!! ^-^
i listen to this constantly
Sir Duke. It doesn't get much better than that.
Miles Davis mainly with a smathering of Coltrane and a few other artists.
I love Miles Davis' Bitches Brew compilation, it gives me a weird disjointed feeling when I listen to it and I think it's incredible. But Kind of Blue with So What and Freedie Freeloader, favorites.
My guitar teacher knew i'm into Mr Bungle and late Hendrix, and made me a tape with some crazy Rock / Jazz stuff...
I really liked them, the Screaming Headless Torsos and the Raging Honkies (Michael Landau) and some other stuff, i forgot the names. Well, i'd like to find some more of that kind of stuff. I'm not really into um... oldschool Jazz. I know there's Jazz that is, well experimantal, i just can't seem to find it.
Anything you'd recommend? I'd appreciate webradio Stations or free (legal) MP3s, kinda short on money right now...
My current favorites: Coltrane, Miles Davis, Sun Ra, early George Benson, Sonny Rollins, Eric Dolphy, Chick Corea, Ornette Coleman.
"Es nat far meh, es far me maaah."
Wynton Marsalis. Especially his newest album, the Magic Hour. Just an awesome cd to listen to. I even got to go to his concert when he cam to Toronto.
Plus guys Maynard Feguson, guys I am a trumpet player myself, so you gotta love those squealers. Also big into Chuck Mangione right now.
I'm listening to Esbjörn Svensson Trio's new album Viaticum right now. Sounds good so far...
^^official jazz station of Bradley Hall! hehe.. pretty good stuff... sometimes plays rarities, specializes in older jazz..
worth checking out if you havent heard:
Bob James (the mid 70's stuff)
Bola Sete (Brazilian Jazz Guitar)
early Lou Rawls has some jazz for that ass, even if the rest of his stuff sucks
i cant think of more off the top of my head right now that hasnt been said, but that stuff should keep you busy for a while
