Welcome to the Sketchbook section !

before i scrolled down and saw your inc stuff i could bet alot that you were a inker, and i was right

you have a very polished style, the last one fits my taste the best, alittle rough and "wild"

    cheers, and post on !

OMG I got some replies -- I'm in total shock!

Shylone_Breath: Thank you for your comments. I think the reason I never got any replies is because my art is probably a little "boring". I need to spice it up with some blood, gore and weirdness

hurricane: Thanks for the warm welcome. Yeah, I'm a little anal about keeping my lines neat and tidy. I definitely need to loosen up!

-sideshowbob- : Thanks for the encouragement. Wish I could work hard at it like you do!

    Shylone_Breath : Here's more.

Icey : Thanks for the kind words. You're absolutely right -- blocking in and construction of the figure is a problem that I need to work on.

your heads are often out of proportion and the cartoony quality is taking away from the feeling of life they should posess. the cartoony feeling/style you are getting does not stem from a strong understanding of the human figure but but instead not enough of a focus on life drawing. this kind of thing is perfected by years of life drawing and or observation as well as anatomy study in my opinion. perhaps working with reference might lead you down the same path or at least similar. you are missing the subtlety

your poses are stiff, lacking the weight and muscle stress/relaxation which is present in all great representational figure work. it looks to me like you spend too much time in the books of burne hogarthe and not enough time in front of a model.

honestly, you have a lot of work to do here. no one is without hope, however you are going to really have to put your nose to the grindstone because it isnt just a lack of focus on hands and feet that is keeping you from reaching greatness with your work. you are going to need years with the model to work out your issues with accuracy, mood, expression, and the like. there may be other paths. afterall some of the successful artists around here took little figure drawing and are self taught. but they draw dozens of drawings per week and folders of paintings too on a constant basis.

your understanding of light is minimal at best. you really need to bite down on that part of your art. I would say your weaknesses right now are light, subtle anatomy, life like gesture, and accuracy. not overworking your lines would be a nice step to take in the accuracy department.

    and there you have it.

the girl's face on the 3'rd sheet is the best in my opinion... The proportions are much better!

I have proportion problems too, but they go away with lot and lot of exerciceing
