This is a no reference drawing in pencil. I did the first version in crosshatching, then scanned it and redid the shading by smoothing out the lines in painter. It is meant to approximate smoother shading with a pencil, but didn't have to alter my original drawing.
Did the hat shading etc in painter using a somewhat graphite like style.
I need some ears though....and eyelashes...ah well, who needs ears Might do them later.
Any of you try a pencil like shading in digital programs?
And what are your shading methods?

i Stick with the Traditional pencil
if your going to shade like that (in my oppinion)
but i mean if ur doing matte paitings then use the wacom tablet
err my shading techniques..uhmm.. if im doing skin tones then i start out with a layer of H then add a layer of HB and in extreme cases where the skin is dark i move to a 2b/3b..hmm... not much of a heavy cross hatcher ..(although i may cross hatch with the H pencil LIGHTLY)
