Crow's Sketch A Day (Update for 5/31/05) Gladiator

Remembered that there was this sketchbook forum, so I'm putting the thread I started in sketches here. Let me know what you guys think. Here's the previous ones with a new one:

Doing a tshirt for someone; they want a 1950's pinup girl, so here are my hair ideas after going throu some reference material.

I dig the medusa chick, the inks on the profile are really solid. Ant's head is cool too, maybe go in with some white acrylic to pull some highlights and details in, and push the shadows to give it some contrast. There's some good tension and movement in your earlier sketches too. Keep posting!

    jca- Thanks!
sideshowbob- Most of it is pen, but I do also enjoy using a brush for inking. Zirkus Affe is german for Circus Monkey. I'm not german, but I speak a little.
artkitty- Yeah, I would like to bring some highlights out, maybe even do a series based on closeups of insects.

Well, I've had a busy day, so I didn't really get a chance to sketch today. I know, I know. Here's some sketches for a tshirt I'm doing. It's for a local coffee place, and it's going to end up a two color job. Nothing spectacular.

    its missing something...

I think the pic you are doing for the shirt is nice but... its missing something. It took me a while to figure out what it was but I think it might be better if she had ears... obviously one would be covered by hair, but the other one should have the hair brushed behind (maybe) another thing is her right leg seems a little ... I dunno small. very nice other than that... I like the hand gestures

bah just noticed something else when the lip of the cup goes behind her it doesnt really come out right on the other side... a little skewed, but then hell it is just a sketch so....

    Howdy!

You've got some cool sketches... as for some critiques on the coffee shop shirt, everything Thalas said plus she doesn't seem to be seated on the bottom of the bowl... looks like she's floating or propped up. Also, her right leg and arm seem a little too long to me... but, it's a qork in progress, and I have no idea what girls in the 50's looked like so, that's just my 2 cents.

    Keep it up, man!

I enjoyed the medusa sketch... as for the woman in the cup I liked as well, though I agree that she doesnt seem to be placed at the bottom of the cup, I also think that her right hand should be placed inside the cup or either her right elbow should be placed inward... that way her arm looks rested on the edge of the cup rather then floating...

    just my opinion...

I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected, enough to step aside and, weep like a widow, to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human...

Been playing around in Photoshop recently, making some artsy desktops.

Bunch of scans of a book layered with a painting

The face is Washington's portrait from a dollar bill

    Weird looking cathedral/angelic thing

An early version of an image I posted in the sketches forum

Lately I've been busy with designing a website for a movie I'm working on, so it's tough finding time to sketch some stuff not related to the project/post images.

Heres some ideas for nasty critters

And a quick pencil of some guy with a gun

Some basic brushstrokes and grey value added

Thanks! The movie I'm working on is an animation. The animation part is almost done, overall about 60% done; the website will be up in a few days with a trailer. As for the title, it's Charles Bronson Versus Tony Danza. It's an... interesting little animation.

Here's some early storyboard stuff done up in a comic format. Yeah, yeah, it's in MS Paint. Started out as just goofing off.

    Next page

Here are the two stars, hiding in the shadows. I'll probably be able to post more stuff from it once the sites up.

    Big Update 2/9/05

Wee! A big dump of stuff from my mind.

Some Coffee shop studies. Focusing on fabric wrinkles.

A guy who couldn't tell why I was staring at him while he was using his laptop.

    Random fat guy...

    A starbucks ninja.

    And some random doodles.

Well, trying to keep up with sketchs. Here's some new stuff mixed in with some of my older stuff.

    A quick color sketch

A pic of Ningauble, a character from the Grey Mouser and Fafhrd by Fritz Leiber

    Err, something

Yeah...some old guy and a faceless swallower of souls...

    Literal interpretation of Clockwork Orange

    Technical Drawing of a skull

Some cyborg fighter wearing tights (CYBER tights!)

Of course you gotta have a drunk robot

    And some weird guy

Thanks! Let me know what you think.

This first one is a coloring of a previous entry

    A robot!

Panel sketch for something top secret

    Playing around with it...

Studies of mechanincal parts and engines

Started out as a random ink smear, then it turned into a ghoul

Study of a halloween mask, one of those ones thats really creepy 'cause it's just a plain white mask

    Cyber-eye

    Smokin' man

    And a bunch of weirdos

Hopefully I'll not be slacking off on the posting again, Vishnu willing. And let me know any comments you have!

Here's some more. Been in a comic mood lately, especially after seeing Sin City, which is a required film for anybody who visits this site.
