Hey panda! Nice use of textures, very good stuff overall.
The teen challenge entry is very good.
I'd like to see something that combines the two very different styles I see here (the cleaner stuff and the textures), you should try it.
    Keep posting!

Great SB. the work is expressive and just plain attractive. I especially enjoy the works you push that extra mile -- they tend to have the same soul as the quicker stuff, but with all the trimmings. Well done.

I'll admit I havn't looked through all your stuff yet, but what I'e seen is good.. and I don't feel as bad about my messy lines anymore, you've proven it's possible to make really nice stuff even if your lines isin't perfect from the start =)

Btw on that buisness card, are you going to have some sory of background, just some really light color or something? Or are you leaving it white?
Anyway I like it the woman reminds me of Poseidon for some reason.. I get an acquatic feel from it.. and with that crown, well ya =)

NikitaDarkstar - no, no background. I like the simple look; plus printing a background would make it look really annoying with a white border on two sides (I'm printing these myself)

The next of my new business cards.

The pencils are great, specially the street scene.
And I really like how clean these last two (for your cards) are, really nice.

Although on the girl I think the place where the left arm meets the torso is a little weird: her chest is too high and the shoulder area is not very clear.
On another subject, since you're trying to comunicate the "expression" concept, you should try using a more expressive type, even handwriting maybe.
    Keep them coming!

I'm liking the palette on the first card and the coloring style is perfect for the piece, but I wish there were some visible fingers on that hand. It's a perfect opportunity for well, expression. If it's a closed fist, it doesn't quite fit for me.

I agree with what craig said about the fist. You could work a great hand pose into that piece. When I checked this thread out and went from page 1 to 3 I almost didn't believe it was the same artist. Huge props on the dedication and improvement. Your technique and style are maturing really well but I think you could use some more anatomy studies / life drawing sessions. Still, nice stuff.

    love,
    Ferg

I redid the darkshark, as you can see here. Big because I like it that way.

Ferg - hahaha.... I'm in a life drawing class and I do anatomy studies weekly. That crit could be given to just about anybody; you never stop learning. That's why I've improved so drastically over the last year (that's how long this sketchbook is; only 1 1/2 years old.)

Craig Houghton - Yes, I see what you mean. But sadly, I am lazy and will probably not draw them in.

entdroid - I see what you mean about the arm - I tend to do that quite often. It's shaded oddly.

The city street piece is perfect -- that dark bulb really makes it happen. Well done. I suppose I might be just a tad distracted by the extra texture in the lower left, but it's no biggie.

Mr Shark seems like a fine fellow as well, but he doesn't grab me the way that dark bulb did in the street.

    Well done.

    Really nice update!
I like the way you colored that street, but I think that if the arches were darker it would add some more depth to it. I like how you've managed to add texture to a clean rendering, it gives it nice graphic style.
Darkshark is really good as well.

his face seems a little jumbled, but otherwise nice lines.
his left hand seems larger than his right hand, and the necklace feels like it's floating, most probably due to the right end looking like a straight line.

Other than the jagged marker lines on the right-side arm that don't gel as well with the rest of the piece, I'm very impressed. Have a great time up north!

    BANANA!
    that's so funny.

the one with the half-life lke guy in the top down perspective, i initially thought it was an unfinished upper torso. can't quite tell what's going on. is he backed against a wall? but it also feels like a ledge.

    DAMMIT! what the hell?

I've posted this freaking same reply like 4 times in the past 2 days I swear!

ah.heng - he's standing on a platform high above a city or something, those are buildings behind him. I suck at environments.

    faux pas - thanks!

guggenmaneuver - aggh! I know... I can't even find it now! - Is there any way I can make it up to you on CA?

anyway, fifth time's the charm. I actually have more drawings that I'll post later today.

Now that's a friggin' update. Great stuff. You make drawing look like pure fun.

The portrait looks great, but the features I think need a bit more attention. The nose and ears look a bit rushed in terms of form and placement. It's the sort of thing that you can get away with in a sketch, but here I think that some extra attention will pay off. That being said, the attention to values makes this work, well!

The moleskin stuff is pure candy. I love it.

    -Craig
