The venetian picture is kickass panda!
The last update is good too, but in all of these youre still using only one direction for hatching. You could also stand to develop the values and/or line weight more to get the feeling of form and depth.
SirGreenSock - you are of course totally correct. Unfortunately, all of these drawings were done on my road trip a while ago, so I can't really fix 'em now (pen does that)
But in the future I will of course keep in mind these crits!
Teh Gosu - Thanks dawg. Will do.
ok. so, some more stuff. working on some digitals too, I'll post those here when I consider 'em done.
good one panda!! keep posting! your stuffs are very nice
yo - thanks.
really looking for critique. I'll probably post some study pages soon, but I'd love some more direction from forum members.
oh, and for greensock's benefit, when he looks in here, these are the last of the pieces with monodirectional hatching.
Is it christmas already!
The design looks great, 3 crits for now in the early stage are that the scythe is cutting into the fingers, which is a bit awkward design-wise. The colours are a bit too muted too. I like the oranges and purples on the torso, and even accents like those in the other areas would make it more interesting if you want to keep the neutral colour scheme. The last detail is that when you look at the pic in thumbnail form its a bit unbalanced in the top left and bottom right corners, though if youre making it in card form i guess you might put in some kinda logo design type in there or something.
Haha thanks for the heads up on the monodirectional hatching cant wait to see the new stuff
panda- really cool stuff!! I like that last painting and the girl on the bridge a page or two back is awesome. also, that streetlight sketch was tight! keep it coming!!
i like the way you get the figure out with those simply lines!
maybe you can pass to my sb and gimme some advice.. i gotta learn as much as i can since i'm not an art student!! i hope you can!!
really nice again
I loved the sketch, and the paintover is great for this piece, but I'm not that fond of the mirror effect.. sorry.
But lots of great stuff here, I'll popp by again! Come give my SB a visit
Hive_minD - thanks - it is for a card though.
mitrandil20 - sure, I just left a comment over there.
Newbs - thanks
iolarnula - thanks; will do.
SirGreenSock - awesome! crits! you are of course completely correct about the scythe - I'll work on that soon. You say the colors are too muted - do you mean everywhere or just in the places that have color? (I admit, I'm kinda scared to jump into heavy color, but hey, there it is.) I guess I'll work in some more drastic changes then.
,o_o, too many asspats. not enough crits.
well. here's some recent pencil stuff. I might render the first one. both are things that I haven't tried doing in a while.
The first drawing in the previous update is a pretty interesting experiment, albeit the distortion is off in the front arm.
The second guy is an interesting design, but it took me a while to figure all of it out, especially around the head and feet. Ya need more contrast in the render to show the form more and distinguish the features.
Hands are well drawn, but why did you draw them pretty much all in very similar poses? THeyre all quite neutral and relaxed, fingers extended etc. If that was just for compositional effect on the page its fine, but otherwise some variety wouldnt hurt.
m0uS3r - mm. I'm in class now. no promises.
28chelseaslater - glad you like 'em. shirt's not on the market probably til october; it's for an upcoming line. I'll pimp out the site here once it's up.
StarbonesCoffin - I do use a tablet to draw, but nothing really beats pencil and paper - it's so damn versatile and portable.
SirGreenSock - it was meant to be exaggerated. You think I took it too far? can I get a paintover maybe? Totally right about the contrast - but it's hard to do on toned paper. I guess I should start mixing in some more ink with my pencils... or SOMETHING. I don't even know. The hands are all drawn from fashion magazines - nothing else on hand at the time (no pun intended) Not my fault they were so relaxed.
Skeiff - hm. will do, if I plan on continuing it. I don't even know if I still want to finish it.
Fishspawn - thanks
ho-kay. So this is just a doodle. I don't even know. bleh. More later; working on some stuff for media class.
That thing reminds me of something that would be in Naruto or Devil may cry. I'm in love.
So , your classes started already , this early? Heh , nice s/b man , I still don't get the deal with all the guys w/ gas masks.
Ev'sSketchbook for the lazy minded but willing!
