This is my first post here but i would like to be a reg,,, ive recently decided to attempt a career in painting. hard stuff... critique away...
and heres my site ive got a lot of older stuff here for sale and whatnot, im also looking to expand it with more art, so if your interested just show me your stuff... www.RedMoonArtworks.com
just stumbled across your painting and liked it very much. I consider it not to be fully abstract, more kind of francis bacon distortion work but the shapes and colors are cool.
Would like to see more.
"(...) there are ten thousand bad drawings in each of us. With that in mind, pick up the pencil and start cracking them away." - after Andy Smith
did you add something to the oils to make it thicker than normal? (van gogh does this)
I love the effect, very dynamic
what is the concept?
You gotta know what you is doin so you don't get a bad lergy on your knob.
if anything i thin my paints out a bit with linseed oil, but i get it so thick on there by scooping a bunch up with the brush and then smearing it on the canvas. I think texture is very important especially because its one thing that greatly seperates digital from traditional, and it looks really cool in person.
as for the concept i rarely start out with one, ill usually start with a couple colors and just start spreading them around until an image starts to come out at me, then i just build on that until its finished. in this one a profile of some kind of monster started to emmerge so thats what i turned it into. but I dont like to have my art be to clear, i like for people to be able to come up with their own images and conclusions. this varies from painting to painting, some are completely abstract while others are more clear in their imagery...
