    help! need some advice!

I'm thinking of sketching people's faces on spot just to make some money on my own, but I don't know how much I should charge a customer. I'm asking for any advice to anyone who is/has done this before. Thanks!

I would go into it knowing that not everyone is going to buy your artwork if you're just going to do sketches of people randomly. How do you plan on letting people know you want them to pay for this service?

    Why short change your services?

Charge what you think is a decent amount and if it seems as though no one is taking you up on it, then back it off a bit.

I should be more specific here, sorry.

What I plan to do is have the customer sit in front of me and I'll make a sketch of them, you know like what some people do at public places like tourist spots?
I am not talkin about portrait commissions.

no shit man. like i said if your "good" charge like i said. if you live in a section 8 area where people get monthly checks for 50 bucks i doubt there gonna shell out 30 bucks for your sketch. use common sense. 30 rich area. maybe 5-10 poor area. then again charge whatever t.f. you want. works best in citys near high traffic areas in the borderline business and entertainment districts. not near residential. if that didnt help well eat cat poo.

It's OBVIOUS that you're going to be in a touristy area so assume that people have some sort of cash so charge appropriately. I'm going to assume that you're not hanging out on the fringe areas of the city trying to drum up work.
