January 13th, 2005 #16I attempted to achieve the sorts of effects that you can only get in photoshop, using traditional media. I hope the crossover was effective in communicating the feel of the piece.

I really loved the golden glow on the underside of the hornet's wings, but couldn't quite echo the spontaneous feel of the original.

C&C welcome!!

January 14th, 2005 #18I really love Insect Battle and I also love The Incredibles and that made me think how cool it would be if Pixar made a movie out of Insect Battle and that inspired me to create this!

January 14th, 2005 #19dirty_c: Watching you create this was inspiring. You have my full adoration. I wasn't able to capture the highlights myself, as you can see... that's why sometimes you just have to use digital, I guess! If only I'd had a highlighter with me. Clearly, the wasp is winning in your picture.
0kelvin: That's fantastic! I would buy the movie if they made it, for sure. The wasp is pure perfection. (I was always of the wasp persuasion, myself.) My only crit would be that the scorpion needs skeleton-like nostrils to give it that really ominous feel.

January 14th, 2005 #20I predict that great things will come of this thread. Come on people, pitch in! I'm working on mine now.
January 14th, 2005 #21I added the skeleton nostrils in Photoshop. You were right, they added a lot to the atmosphere of the piece!

Hi. I got tired of drawing magical Ligers in my trapper keeper,
so I made this in MSPaint at 96x96 but resized it in Photoshop to about 200x200
so it would be more detailed and also art it up a little.
Hope you like it. Crits and comments welcome, if they are positive.
Keep in mind I have doctorates in art and technology and I teach lots of geniuses my skills in art.
