Smile WIP: Cartoon + other work

Ive come up with this for my college portfolio...which wasnt hard but got me thinking since ive never actually drawn anything from purely inside my head.

I kinda woke up in gr 12 that i wanted to go into art, took 1 year of gr 11 classes and here i am applying to college with my 1 year experience of drawing vs 5 years like others..lol

Im having trouble looking at this character in perspective at the moment.

we're supposed to do a front, back, 3/4 front and 3/4 back.

The front should be somewhat easier but the back is totally puzzling to me and how i should draw it. Any help would be much appreciated.

What I would say is that your values (does this word even exist in english ?) are too flat. Try to reinforce the contrast in your drawings where it is needed : More lighter & Darker areas (you can even try this in photoshop to get an idea)... and try not to smudge them excessively, don't be afraid to leave the marks of your pencil.

Anyway, you have something coming, keep up practicing and post the rest of your work.

    Just DO IT damnit !

    thanks...yea..

im a bit freaked out at leaving lines of pencil standing out and popping at you..tho most of the work looks good with that from other people..

im going to try work and give more darks to the second hand and see what it comes out like.

need to do some line drawings now and gotta finish up an aligator in color pencils...which i hate because i have never used them before(expect when i was 3-4 yrs old..lol)
