Hi everyone. First post here and my first go at using Painter (used ArtRage for a bit). Hope to be doing lots of SP's to get a handle on the program. Great stuff everyone. I particularly like Koshime's, Meatsworthy's & Wasker's work.

This is cool. Is it reffed? What tools and brushes did you use?

Yes. The reference is from the film The Third Man. I used Painter's Captured Bristle brush from acrylics for the base, then worked up with Medium Bristle brushes in oils set at around 30% opacity.

Oh, and your use of colour is stunning.

Horsefly: Thanks. I like your last one.
Meatsworthy: Thx. About your last one: So rough and detailled. Love what you did lighting-wise to his chin and mouth. I don't think there would be sun-reflections on the lower part of the small buttons connecting his chest parts to the shoulders tho. Umm yeah, ignore me.
koshime: nice mood, the colors work really well, also the differences in saturation make it appear really deep.

Here's one from me. Not really speedy, I think I worked more than 1 hour on the finetuning, trying out some of Prom's brushes (the laserbeams and broken up groundpieces are the last survivers tho, didn't quite fit).

Some more face studies. Obvious film ref's.

koshime: Very nice. Are they dragon statues on the left, or just cool shaped rocks?

Celvec: Cheers. Love your loose work.

Jabo: Very dynamic. Nice colours too.

    1h, I defined it's shape more since it's a pretty simple composition.

Jabo: You're right. Even if I was being stubborn about it, I could have at least made it smaller!

    Horsefly: Nice, like Priss most.
Wasker: Thanks. You should try to push the lower tones in your snow-picture. At the moment your values reach from near-white to 25% grey. 75 more to go. Same thing happens to me all the time.
jk.g: Lovely. Like the exxagerated proportions.
    SamsonsReaper: Wow. Crispy.
Koshime: Great compostion and tones in the last one.

Some thumbs I did today after seeing through the Homeworld II concepts. Addicting shit.

Thanks Koshime . You're taking the brushwork to really cool places with that last one.

    jk.G, smason, nice work!

Pushing for more varied subject matter:
