I went to an exhibit a few blocks from my place that has cadavers preserved by "plasination" so they're posed and parts are exposed to show organs etc.. Did a bunch of studies with bonedog to get the most out of my buck. Most is in ballpoint pen and hi-tec C

From when I started looking at your stuff it kinda went good, better, better, holy fucking christ. And I like that you have grabbed concept art firmly by the ass and punted it the full length of the field, great work really loving your latest stuff, especially the pen studies.

    nice

    Kemp,
I'm really impressed with your work man. You're shit's awesome and honestly I'm flattered by your comment! After seein' your stuff in those small pocket sketchbooks, I purchased one myself. It's probably the best investment I've made since arriving in Tokyo. You've been a big inspiration for me too. Keep up the great work.

    Peace
    Joe

First post on CA.org in like 4 months or so... Just to say "What's up, Kemp?" I've been going crazy in Atlanta, I'm definitely feeling what you said about being able to see the good side after you leave the place you despised. I came back and suddenly all this amazing stuff started happening in Atlanta. Pestering the crap out of people and talking my ass off is really paying off, not to mention putting together a nicely done portfolio and carrying it with me fucking everywhere. Turner (Williams Street) is the next stop. The chain of people I've met is insane.
Anyways, don't want to talk about myself too much, needless to say, things are going very well, GA misses you, and I am arting all over the place. It sounds like things are going incredible for you out in San Fran... Out there hanging out and drawing with my idols, hahaha. But then again, you've always been one of my idols as well. You being my friend since Austin changed a hell of a lot in my artistic path, and I can't thank you enough for that.
The difference in my art since then is... I dunno, I can't believe it when I look back on those sketchbooks. Speaking of which, I'll be getting that web site up soon. It will have the portfolio images I've been showing people, and my latest summer projects.

I'm glad to see some new sketches, which are great as always, and look forward greatly to seeing your transition into painting. Mine was a battle but I had an awesome color teacher second semester and my final project got into the best of Ringling show at the end of the year, after doing only like 15 paintings in my entire life all within that one semester. Wasn't as tough a battle as I thought, I just needed some fucking direction I guess.

I'll be letting you know when I get stuff online, I'd really like to see what you think about what I've been doing.

Much love bro, sorry for all the sappiness, I've been doing a ballpoint drawing for the past 6-8 hours and my mind has melted a bit.
    -Kyler

    Holy Krap, Kemp!

Its great to see your artwork growing and evolving so quickly! Looks like your move to San Fran is really sparking the artistic muse. I see a lot of new styles in there....especially that one with the suspended chicks....nice and smooth rendering...a real departure from that famous Kemp X-Hatch! Looks beeeyoooteeefulll!

Im so glad you are enjoying your new city and artistic inspirations. I went thru a very similar thing when I moved to LA from tiny Spokane, WA 5 years ago. I miss my old town a TON...moslty for family. But an artist NEEDS world experience and outside inspiration. Ive been a part of 3 or 4 different studios of guys already here in LA, each new group of artists teaches you something new...new technology (Drawing on a wacom!!), new influnces...new teachers. Its wierd, Ive learned more from my peers at these studios...guys younger than me...than from the heads of the studios sometimes. Its that competitive edge that gets you pumped up looking to impress the great artist sitting next to you that makes you learn and grow faster than anything!

I cant wait to see where your evolutionary journey takes you, Kemp! Keep us posted...and if you are ever in LA...give me a jingle!!!

    Cheers!~~~Patrick (JadeDragon)

    Hey Mr. steak,

I liked your bob suite. Me and my woman were going to go to that exhibit. I heard those bodies were leaking. I was going to collect some samples for my collection but hffff.... I never got around to it. Just wanted to tell you yer artwork is swell.

    Peace and grease, Dave
