mmm, btw, my comment about your color wasn't meant to sound back-handed. What I meant to say was that I liked it because it was different than how I might have done it. I always like seeing how people solve problems differently.

hey, that's cool emily, I'm all ears to different approaches. Nothing better than dissent and honesty when critiquing artwork. If for some reason something I do doesn't read clearly or is not working I want to hear it. If I didn't want a critique I wouldn't put my drawings on the internet

With that said, It was great to meet you in SF! You were bold indeed to brave the hotel room full of smelly jerk-guys for sketch night I just regret not getting to look through your sketchbook. The whole event was rich with experience yet so much was left undone... maybe next time.

--> thanks for the comments everyone! I'll get some more stuff on here soon.

In the meantime, check out my ridiculous photos from SF here

    more shots to come tomorrow...

    Kemp,

Dang, those collab pages look like so much fun! *Kicking myself for not getting to play in SF* I'm so jealous you got to hang out with Prostate and Groover and the boys from Seattle. Not to mention that Steak guy!

Loved the pictures too. So many cool things to do at the workshop, I wish I could see all of it!

I also liked your after WS San Fran pics...I cant believe you actually got to see REAL LIFE El Coro wall paintings! Those were amazing. And....Victoria's Secret? HAHAHAHAAA!

Congrats again on a fun and productive trip!~~~JadeDragon

I really like your foster inspired creatures. Foster's painting was cool to see and the brush strokes were so damn juicy. I can't wait to paint with cardboard and get those textures.....YAH!
Anyways, I hope all goes great with the interviews and future jobs.

btw, Im diggin your new avatar!

chaotic logik: thanks dude, sorry I didn't get to talk to you at the WS, would've liked to look at your SB.
Rusty: thanks bro, you've discovered my alcohol driven secret - I'm actually a fraction of the booze hound I used to be, all this talk of me being a drunk is overblown... i hope... hehe
dns2k: thanks man, only got it a little since I had it before I got to SF, hope I didn't give it to you It was cool hanging with you.
bwkeough: hehe sorry dude, I'll post more once I get some life stuff settled

i.was.oscar: hehe thanks dude, I couldn't resist using that as an avatar. Foster's demos blew my damn mind...

heres what I did for Meta's weekly challenge, It's pretty week imo, but my excuse is that I'm trying to learn how to use painter

the topic was three words: unnatural mask six

i think you should check the anatomy on those hands, there's a finger too many on each.

nice set of new images here; you seem to be playing with anatomy with ease! I really like mr. no-nose and the super-skinny chick with the long neck and the big hand.

erg, you've posted new stuff and I haven't even had a change to comment on your painting yet!
I think you've gone a step up on this last painting--you are painting the masses and volumes better and it looks more "painterly."
Did you start with a sketch, or did you just jump into it in painter?

    anyhow, waiting to see more,
    emily

    AWWWW JEEZE!

You KNOW I love it when you do these monstery type guys. Look at that!

That top one is GRRRRREAT! And the rest kicks the usual amount of huge ass as well of course. That full figure of the girl in the monokini is so perfect and subtle...amazing grasp of subtle anatomy there my friend.

Way to go Steaky! Keep it up!~~~~JadeDragon

The grave could never hold me!

Well I'm not dead... yet. Moved out to SF last month for the Factor 5 internship, been drawing allot and learning even more. Everythings been pretty nuts (in a good way) but I finally got my scanner from Georgia, so I'm back in biddness yo'

bwkeough: thanks dude, screwing with anatomy is fun, hopefully i'll have some more like that soon.
Bojee: Back at you bro, thanks for the good times
Rusty: It's all smoke and mirrors dude, anatomy is a waifty harlot. I'm loving those photos o' yours.
artkitty: hehe glad you think so.
emilyg: thanks emily, Just straight painter, one of the first times I've done it that way. It's also heavily adjusted in PS I've been using painter alot at work, hopefully I'll have some mo' for you soon.
    mentler: >>>cheers<<<
    I.was.ink: Woo-HA my friend
max: You can and will, thanks for the words
Exe-Yasmin: Hope you don't mind my posting "the collection"
TASart: Thanks dude I hope you will
JadeBlain: thanks homes, I'll write that she-mail I owe you after this.
OleOlsen: It's great when that happens, thanks
obid: at least some one does... I'll take that as a compliment
    Jack Frost: heh thanks Jack

So here is some stuff I've been doing in between all the other things that you do in life. I've been carrying around a little 4 x 6 moleskin with me and drawing all these crazy californians. Most of em' are shit but I thought "hey this is a sketchbook section so what the hell". Most of these are close to life size depending on your screen-res.

I'll post some stuff out of my normal sized book soon.

These are from the Sketch Crawl on the 6th, good people and good drawing

i hadn't seen any recent work from you, so I was wondering what was going on. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
yo, the last one is good. the girl's head-body proportion may be off (which seems kind of intentional), but the heads rule. I also like the mannequin drooring a lot. you kept it simple, especially for you.
you've gotten so much better when it comes to this, but some of your figures still look a little stiff. I think particularly when you're drawing muscular figures w/out reference. from this batch it's the guy getting his butt pinched. he's actually not very stiff, but something looks a little off (i'm being pretty picky considering these are sketches). anyway, think about good flowing gesture the next time you do a non-ref muscle guy.
i'm sure we'd all like to see the work you're doing for factor 4 (ha!) if the power that be let you. hope sf is treating you well. hotlanta says hello (yes, ALL of hotlanta).
