    Exclamation Register Copyright for $5

    Hey guys

While doing my research I came across this new organization that registers copyright, all on-line, for $15. The website is www.icpr.org The International Copyright Protection Registry. Right now they have a special promotion going on, free lifetime memberships and they are offering a $10 discount on registrations, so you can register 15mb of work for $5 when you enter the access code 2626...I think this is because they are still in their Beta testing stage. Not only do they register copyright for a fraction of the cost of all their competitors, they also have a directory of contact information to hundreds of industry venues across Canada, from radio stations to music studios, and a news forum about copyright and the arts industry. This site is really cool. If you are serious about your copyright, check it out.

    Thanks for all your help

    Malik

Is there a reason why you've been registered since August, and the only thing you ever post about is copyrights? bleh

    Sounds like a scam.

I thought under the laws of International copyright when you produce something it's by definition copyrighted to you. You just have to make sure you can prove you have originated this piece of art.

    Registration and Evidence of Copyright

Whenever there is a dispute regarding a work which is covered by copyright, the court hearing the dispute will require evidence convincing it of at least the following facts:
    ? ? ? ? ? (a) the author of the work; and
? ? ? ? ? (b) that the work is the proper subject matter of copyright.
? ? ? ? ? (c) that the work is original in that it is not copied from another work.

When you register your copyright with the Canadian or U.S. Copyright Office, the court will accept a certificate of registration as providing the evidence noted in (a) and (b) above. If you do not have a certificate, you must prove those facts in some other manner. People have tried all sorts of things to prove these facts, such as registering with public performance royalties organizations such as SOCAN, ASCAP and BMI, or even by sending the work to themselves by registered mail

Although these other forms of creating and providing evidence of authorship may be appropriate in some instances, they are not intended to be used as such. SOCAN, ASCAP and BMI specifically state that they are not copyright registries, and the post office is not obligated in any way to support your allegations regarding registered mail.

ICPR’s mandate is to help you establish this evidence in as clear and as detailed a manner as possible. At ICPR, we screen authors through rigorous questioning, we request that digital samples of the work be deposited with us, and we do everything in our power to convince ourselves that you are in fact the author of the work you’re registering, that your work is properly copyrightable, and that the work was in fact fixed in a material form at least as early as the day you deposited it with us.

However, ICPR has not yet been recognized by any court of law as providing evidence which replaces that of a government-issued copyright certificate. Rather, ICPR provides an affordable registration service which we hope will give artists confidence in their copyright ownership, and in fact help them to settle disputes with alleged infringers before any recourse to the courts is necessary. The evidence we allow you to create is yours to use inside or outside the courts.

We cannot promise that using our service will allow you to resolve, settle or win any disputes you may encounter with respect to your work. No one can do this, not even the government.
So it's not really a "copyright," and it doesn't really offer any "protection."

Because, even after spamming the boards repeatedly and getting the same info over and over, he's still looking for some way to do it on the cheap.
