prince of persia-warrior within - concept design (heavy download)

    hello my friends
it's been a while since my last posts containing images.
here's a bunch of artworks that have been done for the new prince of persia - warrior within.

first of all a few environments and concepts. a lot has been done so i have been forced to chose a few personal favorites:

    and now some character designs:
the last one have been done at the very beginning of the project, in 2003.

if you want to see more of in the same serie, check out this section on my site, i will add new materials later on.
    here

amazing... the colors are so vibrant. you are a master of economy of stroke. so much detail without too much rendering.

    Nice stuff dude.

I purposely reserved my copy of the game to get the artbook and I went in to pick it up today and those F#$King Bastards where out.
So I didn't buy the game. I was only buying it for the artbook.

I like the shirtless prince with two swords. The final design seems just a bit too much S&M style. I picked up the art book last week. Some of your work is in it. Awesome stuff, although it's a very small book

    superb -

i like the cities - really old world biblical look,
i like the economical use of strokes etc -
i bet if you hung around in petra long enough a big stiped monster would turn up.
    cool stuff.
il like the scaffolding man and beast best great light in it.

think the darker stuff in prince of persia was definately the rite way to go.
ive speant years trying to get the game im working on to go more sinister but they wont have it.

Wow! Awesome stuff Sparth. I have a question: When doing concepts like the characters or the environments are you also assigned to do draft views of approved stuff to help the modelers? Or do they just work off the finished concepts?

    Thanks!

yep. Giving it out for free there is not much one can expect. They should have done it the same way Capcom did with Onimusha 3. They bundled in a HUGE massive hardback art-book for it when you bought the strategy guide. It was like $25 together for the two books but well worth it.

your environs are so strong right now....really love that stuff.

keep workin on your figure stuff homie...don't get me wrong, what you are doing is pro...I do think though that it is perhaps your weakest area...the flesh and the anatomy is just as key as color composition which you have so mastered.

great work. If I have my way, I'll be working and learning with you someday!

    Thumbs up Inspirational stuff

Fantastic stuff, I work in the video games industry myself, and I am inspired by what I see. I loved the first Prince of Persia game, so hope the new one is just as good.

    Cheers

Thanks for reminding me why you're my favorite artist. 5 stars. How do you chose you're color pallets for you're paintings.

    Exceptional work, Sparth.

I don't really have anything to add to the comments above, but I don't think I've ever replied to one of your posts to say just how much I enjoy your work - you really are the master of understatement, painting only what really needs to be there. That, along with your dynamic use of light, makes for some very striking images which suit production work like this perfectly.

When they list the 'old masters' of digital art, your name will be amongst them. Keep on keepin' on.
