Got an iBook 'for school' about a month ago - going to try and get back to keeping a sketchthread. I need to get my scanner from home to be able to do this, but here's some new stuff.

Working through Andrew Loomis' Drawing the Head and Hands. First page is from two sketch sessions. The top ones are from the mall, the bottom from a party.

Going to bring my scanner back to school with me after the break so I can add stuff more regularly.

Some sketches from Toronto's Royal Winter Agricultural Fair. Field trip for Scientific Illustration class, hence the anatomical overlays.

    Thanks, Mentler

Watched the David Lynch version of Dune today, so I started my new sketchbook with some drawings from the movie. Then I was inspired by the bad 1980's concepts for pretty much everything except the Stillsuits, so I started playing with designs for a spice harvester and a carry-all. I found it really hard to get away from the design of the Jawa Sandcrawler from Star Wars for the harvester...

Good work. Checked out your website too. All very nice. You show a lot of versatility. Your anatomy still seems a bit awkward, but everything else looks damn tight.

I'm looking forward to more Dune concepts.

Short storyboard for class (media studies, actually, working with markers). I don't have too much knowledge of cinematography (though I've been working through my girlfriend's textbook).

Older one-pager that I had forgotten to scan. Same story as above.

Some sketches drawn from photo then painted without reference to finish off my study of male heads with Andrew Loomis' Drawing the Head and Hands.

Things with Propellers. I've seen this topic elsewhere, but I can't remember where.

It's funny how I can manage to keep a daily sketchbook during school, and yet, come summer it's impossible. Too many distractions back home.

My girlfriend and I have started up a monthly comic jam at my school. This is what I accomplished tonight, the start of a short prequel to a comic I abandonned a long time ago. She got me a couple of Hugh Ferriss books and I guess this is just the beginning of his influence taking hold...

    The rest to come.

hurricane: thanks for taking a look. glad you approve!

oh so that was you who was doing the comic jam! cool. wasnt sure what that was about. I ended up doing object drawing homework... haha

Nice panels. Good atmosphere. Very different from your other line drawings, it has a more painterly feel.

    NoUseFrAName: thanks for the comments!

endregan: Yeah, we get together on the first Monday night of every month to do a little jam. Anything goes - comics, storyboards, illustrations, doodle pages. Come out sometime if you're interested.

I just picked up a jar of charcoal dust and I'm just itching to use it. I love working in any medium that I can push and pull like that (it might be the only one...?)

Some layout ideas and some doodles from art history class. We actually had a live Eagle Owl come in with a trainer for Scientific class for about 1.5h of drawing. It's the European equivilant of a Great Horned Owl. Quite the experience - very eerie when it stared directly into your soul with glowing orange eyes.

I'd love to throw some digital paint on some of this stuff but "I don't have any time" - Famous Cop-out

Some drawings from University of Toronto's Anatomy Museum. It has to be said that drawing with your back to a newborn sliced into 1" sections makes you a little uneasy. And ovarian cysts growing hair and teeth are just worng. Worng.
