I've been a long time viewer of these boards and have found that this is BY FAR the best site for concept art, and just art in general. I've gained a large amount of knowledge reading and viewing what others in this community have done, and now I have decided to post some of my own sketches. Post your crits and comments if you have any. Thanks.
Start thing off w/ self portrait..
Another SP, but not as good..
Idea for Oil Painting

Other Side of my fav. Unfinished, and prolly will stay that way..

Hmm you can't? I'm using geocities... JPEG... something not work w/ that combo?
I don't see nothing either. Check out the faq on "how to post" just to make sure
If there's anything fluffier than a cloud, I don't wanna hear about it.
See X's and geocities don't allow outside linking, either convert them to .txt format or make them into a link form, and beside your site is down due to activity...
Got it working!! muahahaha!

Nice variety between life, study and imagination. Keep up all that and you'll continue to get better. Your scanner should make a preview first and then there should be a square selection tool, you might want to use that to get rid of the stripes where your sketchbook doesn't take up the whole scanning bad. If you have photoshop use the crop tool to narrow image down to just your sketch page.
hello Abra, welcome to CA.org, THE most kickass art website on the net. anyway, i like where your going with your pics. it seems to me that you are having plenty of fun with what your drawing (which is always important). But, if you'd like to improve, lets see some studies n stuffs. good beginnings tho, and keep it up!
Da Vinci was a concept artist
11/30/03-11/30/05. Thanks CA, for all the great inspiration. When will I update? I dont know...
I like your action poses, and your faces are good as well. Just keep working on those lines until you are confident with them.
Welcome to the asylum :::: looks like you certainly belong here!
I will come by and take your straight jacket off from time to time
Normal people scare me!!!!
Joeslucher:Thanks for the tips and complements. This was my first time ever scanning anything, but i'll definately crop out the empty space next time.
obid619:Thanks, I do have some studies in my current sketchbook, but figured I'd first post some of my more favorite drawings. Sadly I can't draw any nudes from life because I'm only 17 ... which sucks of course.
Fureatenshi:Thanks, after scanning in my drawings I have realized how lightly I have been drawing. I've traded in my mechanical pencil (which many of those drawings were in) for a 6B.. so as I post more you should be able to see drawings more clearly.
steak-tron: I can already feel them pulling me in!
mentler: Thanks! Took me a while to build up the confidence to finally post. Thanks for the welcome.
Hey Abra, np. But yeah it's good to draw light. Because if you draw in too dark it tends to make the drawing look flat. You want to have a variation in lines...
Here are some recent anatomy studies I've been working on with the arm.
I've decided to get rid of my old "eh, looks right to me" method I've had and
am trying to get to the point where I KNOW the anatomy is right. So
far I jsbr memorized the arms and hands down pretty well (by the end
of the day their are a million sketches of arm muscles all over my school notes).
Next I'm thinking neck, upper body, and then finally the legs/feet (personally
my weakest area). Enjoy!...
P.S.: better scans this time!
Was bored today in math, and decided sketching this out was more important
than reviewing for the final... It's only a corner of the drawing, the rest of
the page is pretty uninteresting.
Here are some new things I've worked on these past couple of days.
I'm beginning to realize what a dumbass I am not to have taken anat. this year.
Instead I take Biology... I guess now I can draw Cells??
Gotta keep studying! Trying to fit it all together.
School is boring... and so I draw..
Here is a repost... After a while i started liking the rest of the drawing... so here ya go!
Havn't had too much time to draw lately with finals coming up. Trying to keep my thread semi-alive w/ some doodles I've sketched here and there with the limited amount of time I've had. Enjoy...
Sketched this today during spare time in classes...
A couple of Thumbnails from refs...
Some doodles I did on scratch peice of paper, while waiting for webpages to load...
I've also been working on my leg anatomy which needs a LOT of work... feeling like I have progressed a lot w/ my studies and will try and post more this week. I need to draw MORE to compete w/ the kind of artists in this community!!!
Ha ha..yea. Loooove pencil drawings. Especially sketchy ones 'cause that's how it all started^_^. First of all, you're anatomy drawings are very cool (I have this thing for bones and muscles too so I get ya) and your characters are hilarious. Did you do those self portraits from a photo or by looking in a mirror? Keep it up!-Sio
Sio- Thanks a lot for the comments, and i did use a mirror for my self portraits, and prolly will do a couple more soon.
Sbeen a while sence i've posted... had a very long and busy holiday, and just now am dragging myself back to the scanner. Lately have been trying to have more fun w/ a lot of my drawings, but still trying to keep up the studies. Enjoy...
Thumbnail sketch of Mr. S
Me in English... it was "reading day"
Well, just got done drawing this one... probably my favorite sketchbook
drawing to date (starting to see my own progression) Hope you all feel the
Going to try and turn this Thread into a daily sketchbook posting to keep me
motivated to draw as often as possible (we'll see how long this lasts).
Anyways.. here are today's drawings!
Here is my filled up page for today... trying to keep the darks dark and the lights light...
Here is a detail of the cartoony death (right side up this time)
And finally, here is a quick sketch of my g/f from this morning (aprox. 5 min. -- damn the bell)
Gah! just wasn't feeling it today i suppose... I tried to draw more, but
sadly my hand wasn't doing what i wanted it to . Maybe I'll draw a bit more tonight, but anyways >>
Sio- thanks for the comment, i will attempt another sp this weekend, but i won't be able to post my drawings except on weekdays.
When saying i wanted to attmpt daily postings, i wasn't thinking about having to go to my dad's on the weekends (where there is no working scanner)
So untill then... cheers!
Woah, your improving fast.
ChEsTeR: thanks for the compliment... I have felt as though I have improved my drawings a lot recently.
Here are a couple i worked on today.. The first one isn't wonderful, but the second is from a WWII photo ref and
many people seem to like it. C&C welcome.
WWII Allied Soldier
Went to the store to other day to buy myself some gouache (sp?), but none of the places I went to havd any!
So I decided to order some off of pearlpaint.com and bought some markers instead. This was my first time ever experimenting
with them, but I ended up liking my first doodle.. so here it is! enjoy!
Here's a pencil drawing (unfinished) i started earlier today..
Nice work here... all of it. Great heads/faces.
I just started playing w/ markers too, It's fun. I love how you can keep building up w/ the same % marker to create gradients and tones.
I'll be keeping an eye on yer book kid.
Bennett- Thanks for the compliments. Been working a lot lately to improve... and I agree... markers are the shit.
Anyways, here's one for today.. it's one of, if not my favorite page so far, not sure if I'm done w/ it or not... we'll see!
"Shool aint boring man ! But its a inspiring place to draw all kind of stuff
Well i can see improvement BUT you still could add more contrast to your pictures..."
