Thread: Paper imports???
February 6th, 2003 #1
Anyone know how to take a scanned texture and import it as a new paper texture? I've searched everywhere else on the internet, and got nothing but deadends.

be sure the image TILES...use the offset feature in photoshop to check
then use capture paper....in the triangle tab on the textures menu...you have to SELECT ALL before it will open up.
it will capture the texture for you if you do so.

You can do all that in Painter, if you want.
Open the scan, Select > All. In the Patterns section menu, check Define Pattern. Click the Grabber tool, hold down the Shift key and move the image so you can see the seams. Choose the Cloners' Straight Cloner variant. In the Brush Controls palette's Cloning section, be sure the Clone Colors box is checked, then choose Offset(1) from the dropdown menu. Hold down the Alt/Option key and click in the Clone Source area of the image (the area of the image from which you want Painter to take color information), then paint using short brushstrokes or dabs, to repair the seams. Adjust brush size as needed.
When the seams are repaired (and with the image still selected), in the Papers section menu, choose Capture Paper and give it a unique name not already used by Painter.
(You can also choose Capture Pattern from the Patterns section menu and save it as a new Pattern.)
