Looking for a comprehensive book about perspective for complete beginners

I recently picked up How To Draw by Scott Robertson and after page 22 I was completely lost. I just can't wrap my head around what he tries to explain - especially the thing with cone of vision.
One reason might be that I am not a native english speaker and the other that I am very unexperienced with perspective drawing, although thinking this book was for complete beginners. So I wanted to know if anyone could recommend me a book to read before continuing with Robertsons How To Draw, or an alternative with a different approach to the subject.

    Thanks in advance

You might start with another of Norling's books Perspective Drawing. It gives some intuition for what vanishing points are (which is the most important thing to understand at first as it facilitates further understanding of more complicated concepts).

Or another similar one by Joseph D'Amelio - Perspective Drawing Handbook:

    To understand cone of vision:

Which is then intersected with the picture plane to obtain circle of vision:

Go ahead and laugh, but I found the book on perspective and drawing buildings from the How to Draw Manga series pretty useful.
