I don't have a lot of money but I always keep and eye out for "real" paintings at the goodwill store. I have found a number of paintings by "midlist" working artists -- the kind that had gallery shows but could still be bought for under $500 (at more like $5 in the resale aisles). These range from early century to artists still working. It makes me kind of sad to see original paintings by skilled artist lined up next to all those old 80s prints and decor art. But still, I get them for my walls.

Does anyone else hunt for "thrift" art? Want to compare finds? I have floral work by Alice Hendee Price and one I am pretty sure is Whitney Van Ness.
