Help me find the edge of the 'canvas'

I pulled this one "The Son" out of storage to finish. It is about a son and a mother each having different sides and factors to themselves and their relationship. It is currently about 1.5 meters wide. Currently all in Sharpie but ultimately to be partly emboidered and beaded.

Apologies for the wrinkles I can't find my iron right now. I have much more fabric but I have to decide where to put the edges of the work. So I would appreciate your idea of where the "center" of the composition should be. It doesn't need to be near the current center as I can expand any side and make the final piece any shape. But I do want a composition with the most interesting aspect in the middle.

Yes that is very true probably the biggest issue I have is a tendency to over-elaborate details without finding a way to tie them together. I was thinking of using some kind of tint to tie the background elements together more.

You know that's like the first thing you're supposed to learn not to do when making a composition. You don't determine composition after having drawn everything in detail.

Make composition first add detail... much, much later.
