CHOW EOW crossover 477 The Nutcracker (wips)

CHOW EOW crossover 477 The Nutcracker (wips)

    Character
    of the Week #477
    The Nutcracker
CHOW EOW crossover 477 The Nutcracker (wips) Deadline -
Wednesday, December 19th 8AM GMTCHOW EOW crossover 477 The Nutcracker (wips)

This is a teamup challenge with "Environment of the week" please follow the link to see the eow brief: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...The-Nutcracker

Design a character from the popular Christmas tale “the nutcracker” by E.T.A Hoffmann.

    Synopsis: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nu...the_Mouse_King
If you can’t be bothered reading all that, here are some of the more prominent characters:

    Grandfather Drosselmeyer (clockmaker and inventor)

Mouse King (apparently has seven heads)

The Nutcracker (wooden figure brought to life)

Madam Mouserinks, mouse queen (Villain of the piece. A sorceress/witch?)

Marie (protagonist, owner of the nutcracker)

You are very welcome to go nuts (!) creatively with your designs if you wish. Ie The nutcracker might be a clockwork steampunk monstrosity or a magical golem of sorts, as long as it has some vague links to its origin. There are other characters, many other dolls are mentioned but never described for instance, so you can be as obscure as you like. If you are a fan of the ballet or the new film that is out and there are characters in them that are not in the original story they are fine too. (I have seen neither.)

    • Male or female humanoid
    • Based on a character from “The Nutcracker”
    • Any genre. (Sci fi, fantasy, horror and any others.)

    The Rules:

    - FINALS: Must post in finals thread before the deadline
    - KNEES UP: Must show at least 3/4 of the character, from at least the knees up.
    - FRONT VIEW: Must be able to see the front of design. No back views without a front.
    - WIPS: Must show at least 2 work in progress shots either in the wips thread or finals thread.
    - READABLE: Design must be readable, as in a 3D model could be made from your image.
    - ONLY ONE: May only submit one entry. No multiple submissions.
    - 3D: Must be originally created models, excluding primitives. 3D paint-overs permitted. If you choose to use 3D in whole or in part you must show a screenshot of the model in 3D software with final entry.
    - UNACCEPTABLE: These are not permitted: Photo paint-overs, photobashing, pre-made or purchased 3D
    models
, rushed works/ rough sketches. PHOTO TEXTURES are allowed as long as they are suitably worked into the piece and not lazily dumped on top.
    - NEW USERS: Must submit entries by 6pm GMT on due date, due to conceptart.org's moderation process:

    - DESIGN: Design your character for the brief, not your personal fetish. Nudes without some design are not permitted.
    - READ: Read through the threads; there may be answers to your questions already posted.
    - FUN: Have fun!

Vulgar: Does the EOW have to be based on the character we choose in the CHOW or is it open to all environments from the story regardless of the character selection?

No, the two challenges don't have to be linked.

My design for the nutcracker Is with a rei-imagining of the tale. the story plays out the same, but the dream world setting is post apocalyptic. The nutcrackers skin has been mutated to be metal. He travels the wasteland killing mutated mice (gangsters). searching for the mouse king (a mutated Mob boss) who has the cure. Marie enters midway through his journey, and together they topple the Mouse empire.
