    Sketchbook : Jolabrele's sketchbook

Hi, I am a self-taught artist and I have been constantly trying to improve myself but found less and less time to practice. This is an opportunity to get myself motivated to draw more frequently. I mostly draw with pencil, pen, and watercolor.

When I am too lazy, I like to work with thumbnails, quick pictures from a movie or tv show to quickly put down a scene, an idea or composition. Sometimes I add some inking or quick color. This is fun to do.

Lately, I have been playing with shadows and lighting. This helps me to get a better feel for the form.

I have been enjoying using a blue pencil instead of the typical HB or 2B, it gives a certain looseness and I love the feel on the paper when I draw with it.

This is not intended as a guide about lighting but if you need a guide you should check out Scott Robertson’s book how to render.
