Thank you Yes! I have it here on my pinterest board (all the heads I've been drawing are from my face reff board and the one from #22 is a portrait bust in it's own category in my pins) : https://www.pinterest.com/Persephone...ace-reference/

I hope this helps! I pin new faces all the time because they're so many pretty ones out there

I like this head study idea. I think I'll steal it, but do a single bone instead.
    You're already showing improvement!

Thank you! Yes, it's been really interesting to draw the same subject multiple days in a row. Mostly because you can see how your skills and style morph over time. Which bone will you choose? I think my favorite bone to draw is a femur bone. haha. I also love drawing the skull.

I want to nail down the spine. So I think the C1 vertebra is gonna be my first stop.

Ohman I don't even know where to start when looking at the spine! My friend once fractured some vertebrae in the C6-C8 region. He was mountain biking without a helmet and his bike caught a tree route. It flipped him directly into the ground. He was in this crazy contraption for months and months. He still has issue from it. Do you have a sketchbook on here? I'll follow it! I can't wait to see what you do.

Broken bones are no joke. I've cracked my left arm 3 times and a rib at one time. Needless to say my skating days are over.

My my sketchbook is in my signature. Feel free to pop by and give critical eyebrow raises whenever.

I did this little demon awhile ago. I want to paint it up sometimes soon, but I need to fix the eyes and the horns. I'm not a fan of them right now. I want something closer to realism but not too close. Anyway, I'll keep posting daily on here and trying to improve!

What's the deal with the random light sources when the thing isn't lit. Also nice colours on that plague doctor, and good improvement on those heads.

Those are there because I meant to color them the same day that I was drawing them, but then I never did. haha. So they're just WIPS with little light source notes. Sometimes I do more notes so I can think about ambient light and reflected light and whatnot but for now there's just those basic things. Thanks! I hate the plague doctor now that I look at it again. I don't want to draw like a little kid anymore. I'm attempting to get better....

Note to self: don't anger Persephone_Black. lol!

I like your little devil drawing. She does look like she might tip over though. I hope you don't mind my taking the liberty of doing some "redline." Feel free to keep it how it is and ignore any advice I give or just do something else entirely. I won't have hurt feelings or think poorly of you or anything. It is your art. Not mine. This is just something to consider before getting further into it.

More stuff from my sketchbook. On day 4 of the 100 heads in 10 days challenge. It's been tough drawing 10 heads every day. I've been experimenting in styles and different ways to sketch. I'm pretty excited at how far I've come at this point. I can't wait to see the difference between day 1 and day 100. Anyway, I want to do some digital painting this week coming up so I can practice more. I want to start working on bodies/gestures as soon as this challenge is over.

haha I was quite the fighter in high school. Even though I'm so small (5ft and only 115lbs at the time). My friends used to call me "pitbull" or "scrappy doo". ahaha. I think you have a point about the gravity there. I might actually paint over it and do some different poses and see how it looks. This is just the first pose, and well all know that art should go through several thumbnails before you finish it. Thank you for the advice!

I did some studies tonight. One I did a little tracing of the face (the first one) and then I did some painting warm-up with it. The second one I drew by hand and went all out on.

Imagine how I feel. You can at least give the faces different expressions. There are only so many angles one can turn a single bone. On the plus side, I can already draw it from memory.

The new heads are looking good! Stay strong!

My studies put together on one page. I'm getting so close to being done with the 100 heads challenge. I can't wait. haha I want to move on to drawing full bodies soon. I feel that I am improving a bit though, which is a benefit.

    - - - Updated - - -

I can't imagine! Drawing the same bone after awhile would drive me crazy. I'm already going crazy with the heads. I'm so bad at rotating them. haha. I should try drawing some expressions though.

FINALLY, 60 heads drawn. Only 40 heads (4 days) to go. My hand and wrist have been killing me though. I have terrible carpal tunnel in my right wrist (and two ganglion cysts). haha. OHBOY.

These are the two heads I like the most from sketching tonight. I'm only 30 heads away from completing the challenge. I'm starting to experiment with different angles and different expressions.

After this heads challenge I'm moving on to the full figure. I can't wait until I get the skills to draw things from my imagination. haha. Right now I'm in beginner mode.

I have found my understanding of how light behaves and wraps around forms has increased by drawing something I see in real life.
I set up a shadow box and put some pure white simple things...styrofoam cup, bowl, box, and tried to draw them as accurately as I could.
Whatching DaVinci Initiative vids on YouTube, reading lessons in classical drawing by Juliette Aristides, and studying the progression of mankind in the way he sees as depicted in art all helped a lot.
Keep at it, you can do it.

Those heads are definitely improving! I really need to bully myself to do that challenge too. When ever you do challenges like this you learn so fast and you'll probably find patterns and things will click into place with your general understanding of construction. Keep at it!

Late reply to your question, but if you have a hand/makeup mirror you can place it next to your traditional stuff, or if your paper isn't very thick you could place it in front of the light and look behind (mainly for if you're studying on bad paper!)

    Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I didn't complete the challenge yet, which stinks because it was supposed to be done in 10 days. Ah. I only made it to 90 heads in 10 days. I got caught up with physics homework (I hate physics). I do happen to have a small standing mirror (it's a desktop mirror) that would be perfect for that! I actually want to work on doing a self portrait this year. I've never done one and I think that would be good to have in my portfolio.

Guuurl, where them other ten heads at? I ain't done C1 studies in like two days, but that just means the challenge was on pause cuz of life; gotta hit play! I will be up at 4:00 A.M. tomorrow morning, dark, cold and early. I will be drawing that bone. Cuz I'm hitting play. You just watch. If there ain't any new bone drawings in my sketchbook by 7:00 A.M. you can throw shade. I don't care if it's 8:00 P.M. by the time you get to it! Hell, invite your friends to come mock me!

hahaha I keep going, "omg I need to sit down and draw those last 10 heads!" but damn, I keep having something come up. First it was homework, then it was being sick, and now it's a combination of both. hahaha. I really want to draw them today though. I made it to 90 heads. I have to post those ones I did, but the last 10 I really need to work on! DRAW THAT C1 BONE YO! (Oh wait, I just saw it in your sketchbook, woo!)

So, here are the heads I hadn't posted. Some of them I like, and some of them are a complete mess. I was sick when I did these ones. Now that I feel a little bit better I can complete the challenge (which really should have been completed on the 18th....oops).
