Round #430 - Armored Hell Tarantula Lizard

    Topic:

    #430 Armored Hell Tarantula Lizard!

We're going evil, we're going big, and we're going SCARY! It's time to put your arachnophobic fears to good use and unleash what you believe, is the ultimate Armored Hell Tarantula Lizard. This creature needs to be huge and absolutely terrifying. Do not just sketch a lizard and slap on 8 spider legs and call it done. You should really be thinking about anatomy and how lizard joints can fit in with a tarantula. What lizard are you using as influence? What's the main body type...a lizard or tarantula? Have fun with this and try to make something we haven't seen before. I'm giving you two weeks on this.

    Due Tuesday, October 2nd!

I did a tarantula dragon ages ago for a cow. I can't remember what the brief was though for that. I think I might redesign him for this.

Hello again, I did this yesterday and I don't seem to be able to do something better yet so I'll try to render it.
It was based on the Armadillo Girdled Lizard but I'm not sure if I did what I wanted to.

Hello again, I wasn't satisfied with my first attempt and decided to start again, this time using photoshop because it's easier for me (and that's why I'll keep practicing with pencil).
I think I'm liking this one more, just hope I'll have the time and patience to finish it.

Weasel.exe: Just stick with it and keep working on it till you feel it's done. You'll get better in time. Some of us improve faster than others, people like myself have been here for well over a decade slaying away and trying to make something half way decent. Keep up the good work.

Lege1 Thank you, I know things won't be nearly as perfect as I want without a lot of practice and dedication, I just wish I had more time and will to practice and study things, mainly the boring things.

This time I really want and will try to finish this piece but I don't think I have enough skills to make it look good, besides that, I'm a bit busy right now so it probably won't be finished soon.

I saw some of your creatures while browsing through the previous rounds and one thing I like about them is that they are always moving, running or doing something, also it seems that you are constantly trying something new. Most of my designs tend to be too similar to one another.

Weasel.exe: We all wish we had more time. In my real life I stay in a constant blur of trying to get my everyday stuff done and work to try and get back to my personal art. It's not easy, never has been, never will, unless you win the lotto of course, but you even then would still have to be disciplined to put the time in and study the certain "boring things" to get ahead. With this art stuff alot of it is about the mileage you put in. The more you feed it the more it all grows. Staying in a constant state of practicing the right stuff is how people excel the best. I appreciate your compliments on my work and yes, I like all my stuff to be in action or some type of movement; I think this comes from my graffiti roots where things are always in motion or rhythm. I also always like to try new techniques. I have driven myself mad throughout the years, exploring all the different methods, approaches, and techniques of digital painting and traditional painting and conclude that in order to find what is best for you, you must try it all. I just recently have settled with just a few select brushes that are my major work horses and a pretty solid approach that I like to create an image, although I do constantly switch up from working in color and black and gray first. Nothing really matters, *reminds me of the turtle oracle from the neverending story movie* all that matters is you find what works best for you; finding an enjoyable approach that creates a great image. Keep at it! A drop in the bucket here and there is better than no rain at all.

I think I'll call it finished since I won't be able to make anything else for now, mine also forgot to have the armor part but that's because I couldn't find a way to make it looks armored without ruinig something I like, I decided to post in here anyway since I don't want to start again again nor do I have time for that (If you haven't noticed yet).

I really need to stop complaining about things.
