Would it be wise for me to craft my Industry Portfolio by using my own Character as t

(EDIT) I didn't notice the text-limit in the topic, so it's supposed to be "Would it be wise for me to craft my Industry Portfolio by using my own Character as the base?"(EDIT)

What I meant as in - when I create my Industry Portfolio, would it be a good idea to use one of my own characters as the base to create artwork for the Portfolio?

    (Illustration-type, OR Concept Art-type)
    (Public Portfolio-type)

You could, it would show a level of creativity if they were good. Using known characters gives them something to judge your work against though. Its all about ability. What Art Directors want to see is an ability to draw and paint well or model well in a 3d program. The characters you use are irrelevant to that primary goal of competent skills.
