Rice Fields Study - any critique is welcomed!

Thought I'd give environmental art a shot and tried to recreate this rice field! Found it quite hard to keep balance between having too much and not enough detail (like with the trees for example). Any advice and/or critique is welcomed!

I know close to none about painting landscaping and digital art, but I would say that the yellow building is way more detailed than the rest of the painting. What I would do is try to bring up the details in the rest of the painting too.

Yes, you need more detail. The painting right now is very muddy and all the shapes pretty much blend together. What you should be thinking about adding to improve this is occlusion shadows. The shadows where objects touch. For the most part, it's alright if you skimp on the details in the background. But those foreground objects should be having a lot more details, especial those front hills of rice fields. The photograph emphasizes those layered edges. Your piece is like a blur and is missing out.

It's a good start. Just keep adding detail to foreground and a bit less detail mid ground. You have to zoom in and start detailing. It can be time consuming but it pays off.
