    Round #426 - Rogue Infiltrator

    Topic:

    #426 Rogue Infiltrator!

We had a great turnout for the EOW/COW crossover. Thank you all for breathing life into that round and making it fun to watch. We will have another crossover next week, but we'll be teaming up with CHoW! In the meantime, we have a ROGUE INFILTRATOR to design. What's that you might ask? Well, let me explain...

We're familiar with police dogs. They're great companions and wonderful crime fighters, sniffing out drugs and chasing the criminals. But what if, in the future, police have special creatures to do the dangerous chasing? These creatures are not only faster than K-9's, they're smarter, can smell better, and are incredibly good problem solvers. But something has happened to a specific Infiltrator. This creature has gone rogue after humanity has suffered an apocalyptic episode. Doing the only thing it knows how to do, this rogue infiltrator travels the land and destroys the bad guys.

    Due Tuesday, July 10th!

@lege - I really like how his eye has a friendly expression, which nicely gives the idea that this puppy-beast is only hunting the bad guys, so personally I don't really think a 2nd version is necessary, unless for the lols?

Trixtar: Thank you and thanks for noticing that cause the eye thing was definitely something I was aiming for for it to be more pet esq. I'm glad you like this one and I tried some new stuff in my rendering because I like a more traditional look but while still working digitally. Been experimenting a lot with everything from brushes, to edge control, and of course values, color and the rest of the foundational stuff. Been really trying to draw a lot more too as well, and in pen, because I feel drawing in pen definitely helps make better improvements. I've also been referencing more than usual as well, but still working imaginary in the respect of not copying anything directly. I had another idea that I really wanted to go with for this that basically is more cephalopod like which I thought would work well for getting the bad guys out of tight spaces and of course bringing them in alive opposed to dead, not to mention cehpalopods are very intelligent creatures and that ability is more than needed in the case of hunting criminals.

Scorge: Really great entry and I like your color palette on this one a lot. Really flexing the cools and the warms with the grays in the mix. Loving how you roll your forms with the values too. Really enjoying the lighting setup as well, as subtle as it is, it's very effective in its ability to focally highlight the creatures head along with some of the surrounding areas. When in your work do you figure out the lighting. Do wait till the end or prefer to have an idea from the beginning.

Hi guys, here is a concept that I would like to share it with you guys. It is a raptor-like lizard kinda thing, drawing inspiration heavily from aliens/venom/killer whale etc. I hope I can illustrate him well, but right now I am leaving room for some more concepts.

Hi guys, I think this might be it... if there is no extension. I am still iffy about the leg....ughhh got my ass kicked pretty bad, kept coming back to it with no solution. played a lot monster hunter this summer, heavily inspired by their creatures, also venom/aliens all the likes.
