I don't find this interesting at all - it has no overall coherence, there is no rhythm, no focus, the bits are not pleasantly arranged. Yes I can make out a monkey bottom left, people next to it and something on an unicycle phutting along. There is no relationship between the elements. Are you scared to bring them close to each other? All art needs to be composed, even if you just want it to be decorative. This neither narrates or is pleasing.

I like it. *don't smite me* It looks like a dream of looking into a large fish tank. Possibly an alien crowd at a sporting event.

That one with the skeleton reading in the hallway is particularly cool.

While I agree that with Black Spot that the forms are not exactly identifiable, I disagree that the painting lacks cohesion. In fact, it is quite dynamic and buoyant. The drawn sketchy lines suggest shapes, but the choice of color segments them from their outline--the color 'leaps' from the shape depending on the hue and transparency, i.e. the pale bright yellow triangular shape in the middle of the left side of the painting--those juxtapositions are articulated. How much do you want the forms to be recognizable? I noticed in another post a definite head with a tongue sticking out, but with the body 'dissolved' into shapes, I find it compelling, in that the shapes and colors, quasi-abstracted lend the head energy and mood.

    Nice Painting.

Cool, Reminds me of Arshile Gorky and the early abstract artists. I would recommend taking photos with more even lighting and a steadier camera.

You might also want to look at Giacometti's drawings to see how he pushes and pulls forms out of a tangle of lines.

I see there's some contention on whether or not people like these drawings. I'm just disappointed. There's so much wild, cool, and funky abstract art out there, and you went for the most limp-wristed approaches I've seen in a while. These, to me, make me think you have more of a cynical interest in abstract art rather than being genuinely interested in exploring limitlessness of the picture plane.

By "cynical interest" I mean you know enough to make something with some potential, but you don't have an interest in taking it further. Just as far as you'd need to take it to show it off. Lots of people make the mistake in thinking abstract art is free from critique, but that's just not true. But because they think so, or because they don't think they can do better, they belt things like these out so people can call them "artistic".

Rant aside, my advice would be to study the artists you look up to (if there are any) and figure out what makes their work...work.

This thread aside, I honestly have no idea what the hell that's supposed to mean. It doesn't help that I can barely read it either. I wasn't aware that porn was outlawed in Europe, and was in need of dire peddling.
