    Sketches from the newcomer!

    Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and I think it's FANTASTIC!
    A little background about myself. I have a bachelors in fine art (illustration) but have been working as a graphic designer ever since I left college (for about 14 years). My illustration skills are a bit rusty but recently I've started to sketch non-graphic design related things on a fairly consistant basis. Any comments or critiques will be welcomed!
    If you should happen to go to me geocities website, please ignore the "design". I know it utterly sucks...I just needed to throw something together so I could post my images here.
    I swear I'm a MUCH better designer than that.
    Looking forward to talking with everyone!

    Hi mlukas9, and Welcome...

    I think after looking at your drawings that you need to review:

    _Anatomy;
    _proportons;
    and specially VOLUME,...

    The robot just to point one thing is WAY TOO flat...

    Keep it up,.. hope to see more of you!

    hey looks pretty good but as Diluc said you should look into your volume stuff alot, for proportions and anatomy take a look here and have a look at andrew loomis' books, he's helped me an awful lot and would do the same for you to, good luck and keep on posting

    Keep posting! Also, consider placing the urls for the images inside of image tags (use the little button that does it for you), so that the pics appear in the thread without clicking. I know, we're a lazy bunch.

    Well done, but keep sketching to get that illustrator in you back into action.

    more sketches!

    ok, more misc sketchwork. The first is still flat (pre- comments The mutant robot I tried my rusty hand at shading. I'm still having trouble with object shape, I believe I just need to think the shapes through more. That and shade better! Thanks for all the suggestions and critiques! I truly appreciate it!

    a half completed PS coloring

    This is another sketch! I'm in the process of coloring it in Photoshop. And, yes, the hand is the wrong way! I took some reference picts with my digital camera and am in the process of fixing THAT too!
    I don't think I'll ever take a break of several years from figure drawing ever again Some of you that have seen the Christian Bale movie "Equilibrium" will probably recognize this as a (loose) sketch of a cleric.

    pensive priest

    I was feeling a little uninspired today. This is more an exercise in wrinkles than anything else.
