    Thanks edgarej. I'm mainly just sketching them out in pencil then painting in acrylic. The last one is a bit of an experiment with pens and then tried to blend it with water. It didn't really work so did a bit of blending and touching up with watercolour.

    That first one was slightly confusing. Did the pencil marks just get colored in with the watercolor? The colored cross-hatch made me think it was pastels at first. That experimental one is awesome. I love the vividness of it, you should totally experiment more with that style.

    The cross hatching on the third one was done in pen and then I just added water. I think the water bleeding the pen makes it look like pastel (like under the chair) but some pens work / bleed better than others. For example on his head the water 'pushed' the pink away so it looks like there's a ring going round his forehead. Thanks though, I'll experiment more even though it's very hit and miss.

    How about the first one? On his upper arm, that dark brown and purple looks like it's cross hatched between each other. How was that done?
